6.5" Phablet that works!
#1
Hi guys

Does anybody know of a 6.5" Chinese phablet that does not have the classic GPS/WiFi/poor sound and signal problem?

I am looking to replace my iNew i6000 that had all these problems and now need to decide whether or not to switch back to a "recognised" manufacturer or give these Chinese phones another try...

I have a 6.0" JIAKE V8 Phone only had two days, everything works great on it.
If you use my scripts or work in your own scripts, your scripts or license should reflect that.

6582 6592 are a nice step up from 6589 in regards to GPS.

Never had a WiFi or SIM signal problem with MTK phones. Even going all the way back to 400MHz MT6016.

Thanks guys.

Dirk, are you saying I would have less or no problems with a phablet based on the MTK6592 chipset?

Just in my experience...GPS has improved alot. Never had a problem with SIM or WiFi signal with MTK phones.

I can't guarantee you'll not have a problem. The ulefone u7 has been popular recently.

Can anybody else help? Any UK residents who bought an MTK6592 based phablet and have used it for a while without GPS/sound/signal problems?

I'm not in the UK, but I will say this about the Chinese phones...
For generally half the price of the recognized big boy brands you can get a pretty good phone. You just need to be patient, ask the right questions and research until you feel comfortable with the device you are looking at.
Although the MT6592 octa cores are generally better for GPS than the MT6589(T) quad cores, it is not always the case. I have used several MT6592 phones than still had terrible GPS.
The low call volume issue found in Mediatek based phones can usually be rectified by going into engineering mode through the dialer or with the MobileUncle app and increasing the mic and earpiece volumes.

I also like giant sized displays and find the Chinese selection MUCH better than regular brands which favor the 5" displays.

If you are looking for high end you could look at the ZTE Nubia X6 with a Snapdragon 801 and 6.44" display($575).
I just reviewed the Huawei Mediapad X1 which isn't nearly as powerful but it has a 7" display, great GPS, decent cameras, 5000 mAh battery, good call quality(but you shouldn't be putting a 7" device up to your ear, it's just wrong). That will only set you back $350.
There are many 6.5" MT6592/MT6582 devices available and I'm sure many of them work great, I just suggest to do some digging or be willing to deal with some glitches. Most of those are probably $300 or less.

Good luck.

Have to disagree with Lookylooky here. There are only several 6.0"+ phones that can be recommended.

The 5.5 or less size phones have a huge, nearly endless selection of recommendable phones.

That's not a bad thing though. At least the decision is narrowed down. The top 4 already listed in this thread. V8, U7, X1, Nubia

Thanks Looky.

I agree with what you said. I too love the large screen phones which is why I am looking for another. I have considered the Nubia X6 but it is not available yet. As for the Huawei Mediapad X1, its a great phablet, I have one! But, it's just a little too big to carry around in my pocket unlike the 6.5" phablets which for me are the perfect size.

The problem I have in finding a replacement for my iNew i6000 is not being able to test the devices before I buy. Hence, I post on forums such as this.

I am currently looking at the iOcean G7 Octa-Core...

Difficult to find someone who's complained about iOcean. I don't think you can go wrong there.
