CWM on Cube U59GT
#1
Hi!
I installed CWM recovery in my U59GT following this tuto:

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

It's a great tutorial. Thanks, for the job. It worked fine in my tablet (fake MTK8312, actually a MTK6582).

But I can only reboot in Recovery via software (Mobileuncle tools, ROMManager...) I'm not able to find what key sequence is to boot in recovery mode. Power + Vol+ does'nt work and Power + Vol- starts stock (chinese) Factory Mode.

Can anyone help me? I did not find any info about U59GT on the Web, only U30GT, U39GT (that have Rockchip hardware). This sucks

Thank you

Try booting using Power + Volume_Down + Home Button. That should take you to the Dead Android graphic.

From there, it's kind of a toss-up as to what happens next. On one post I read, it indicated you should hold the power button down and tap the "volume up" key a few times to bring up the correct menu. Another post indicated you can just get there by messing around with your soft keys in no particular fashion. Once you get there (presuming you do), just methodically poke around and see if anything works for you. Let us know how it goes.

I also stumbled across these translations for the Chinese Boot Screen. In case you or anyone else needs them:

工厂模式(Gōng chǎng mó shì)= Factory Mode
完整测试(Wán zhěng cè shì)= Full Test
单项测试(Dān xiàng cè shì) = Individual Test
测试报告(Cè shì bào gào)= Test Report
清除e MMC(Qīng chú e MMC)= Clear/Remove/Reset eMMC (Clear Flash)
版本信息(Bǎn běn xìn xī)= Version Information
重启手机(Chóng qǐ shǒu jī)= Reboot Phone

Thanks, but
Power+Vol_Down+Home combination does not work. Once pressed the tablet showed the boot logo for a moment (less than a second) and turned off again.
Any new idea?

1) On a different phone....I just tried home power and vol down
---> takes me to factory mode

That ticks off another power up setting for me.

2) I have an image translation photo of factory mode here
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

3) Now to the OP, sorry for slight off topic.
I have read of another method since you are open to ideas

it is a TIMING thing

from fully off....press power as if you want normal boot up
wait for boot logo....boot animation to start
then and only then try various button pushes

Traditionally its hold in power and vol up
good luck

Well guys,

finally IT WORKED!! I GOT tHE MENU "recovery, fastboot, normal"

The way was to hold power for two or three seconds and then pushing Vol_Up. But in most cases the only thing I got was the device shut down..

Thank you for your replies

Now, let's go to the next step...Big Grin

OK good detective work.....now push that to a repeatable event.

Try different timing issues based on what you see?

sequence A First hold in power button to bring up normal boot up......sounds reasonable
Secondly you say 2 or 3 seconds

Do you see a boot logo ....static image first -----sequence B
then do you see animation boot?.......sequence C

now full reboot and try
sequence A.....at B press volume up
if that fails

reboot
sequence A......skip B....press vol up at C

Is that understood?.....takes patience to test though

good luck

Hi,
From OFF, just press and hold POWER for 2 seconds and then press VOL_UP (whithout releasing Power) All BEFORE boot logo.

If boot logo appears, just hold pressing the two buttons and the tablet will turn off again. Then you can try again.

If success, you will get into bootloader menu: Recovery, Fastboot, UART Boot and Normal boot. By the way, I don't know what UART Boot mode means.

And I also don't know why Mobileuncletools gives to me the message "MTK Android does not have Bootloader"

Thanks again for your help and sorry if my english is not good enough.

no sorry I have just had a sleep and just realized that you have used power up mode to get into
bootloader mode and not into recovery mode. Something like this menu but that is different phone.

uart is a kind of modem connection you can make between your PC and Android.
I don't have any experience with it sorry.

When exactly are you seeing this message
Quote:MTK Android does not have Bootloader
I use Linux so can not help with that message but can you explain how you are getting it.
Leaping ahead, I wonder if you have an USB cable connected when you are trying to get into recovery mode
------There should be NO cable connected please

#################
So we still have not found a way to get into recovery mode.------directly

Lets refresh what we know
Power + Vol down = Factory mode
Power + Vol up = nothing
Power + Home + Vol down = false start

Power --when it starts ADD Vol up but before animation = bootloader mode
options to go into recovery mode appear

try
hold down with 2 fingers the vol up and down.....then ADD power

try
Power + home + Vol up

OK found another method through google
it is a timing thing.....so you may have to take a number of goes
----charge your battery before attempting please.

These next 2 methods have failed if you see......boot animation. Animation is a part of normal boot up.
Power + Vol up for 3 seconds....release the Power button
Power + Vol down for 3 seconds ...release the power button

Hi.

No USB cable connected.

I'll continue on testing this afternoon. It's 8:00 AM in Spain now.

The MTK message (or some similar, so I made a free translation from Spanish) is showed when I attempt to reboot in Bootloader mode from the app option to do it.

No issues if I try to reboot into recovery from Mobileuncle.

Hi again,
I think that I have tested all button combinations and timing and none worked to get into recovery directly.

Till now:

Power + Vol_Down = Factory mode (In any sequence, both at time, Power first or Vol_Down first, order does not matter)

Power first and then add Vol_Up (Before boot static image, still black screen) = Bootloader menu, with option to go into recovery.
