Elephone P3000s Ordered. Is it as good as it sounds?
#1
After searching for months and waiting for the 5.5" Lenovo K920 vibe Z2 to become available I decided to get the Elephone. From a previous thread I participated in I understand it'll work on Tmobile usa's 3g and lte networks (3g is fine for me). My main criteria are worldwide frequencies and battery capacity/life. This one ticks those boxes and then some at a ridiculously low price for what it offers. My shortlist included the Huawei honor 6, Acer liquid e700, Lenovo vibe x2 (and Z2), Nubia z7 max, Huawei ascend mate 7, HTC E8 and Sony Xperia z3. But all of them had issues I couldn't overlook: price, availability, battery, size etc. The Elephone seems to tick all the boxes.

If anyone has some input, please chime in and once it arrives I'll update this thread. This will be my back up phone for now as I'm still enjoying my Lenovo K910 and have no plans to replace it yet. Meanwhile, if anyone is interested in buying a Jiayu g5 advanced, iNew V3 or Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro for next to nothing please PM me before I put them on Ebay.

Oh man. There's so much awesomeness in this thread. Thanks for being the guinea pig and trying this out for us. I'm really stoked to hear your results. I might have to buy one of these in the near future too.

That Jaiyu G5 Advanced seemed like it was a monster phone when it came out. Too bad about the frequencies.

I'm banking on the frequencies working out like it did for you with the Doogee. The Jiayu is an excellent phone overall and it's a shame but the 6589T gps issue was a pain too. If the Elephone performs as I expect I'll probably use it as my primary phone, especially if the battery life is good.

It's a solid bet!

I know that you know what you're talking about, but just in case anyone else reads this thread from anew:

I had good luck with the iNew V8 and the Landvo L200 -- both of which claimed (correctly) 3G WCDMA 1900 MHz. The Doogee DG310 has that frequency too, and I've heard it works over here (T-Mobile USA 3G), but I don't personally have the phone.

I *DO* have a Doogee Dagger DG550 which works beautifully as a phone, but does not get 3G here. It doesn't claim to, either. No harm, no foul.

I'm really excited for your P3000s. It seems to be a pretty solid phone for use over here in the USA. Dunno

Keep us posted!

I was interested in this phone too. Gizbeat has tested the P3000 (not S version). Things did not go well at all. Elephone has said they had design issues at the factory. He's waiting for a replacement now last I heard.

I can't find his review anywhere. Do you have a link? I didn't hear very good things about the P3000 either, primarily to do with the pitiful on board storage and some software glitches. By all indications the P3000s solved those issues. Having said that, it's in such high demand my order may not ship for another two weeks so I'm considering cancelling it.

The review is not published yet. He said he will wait on the new one to give them a fair shot. What he said is that both the 3000S and 3000 were having issues and delayed for release according to news from Elephone to him. His 3000 severely overheating when watching any video for a minute or two the phone got burning hot and shut down with battery overheated warning. And something about pop sounds from speaker. The onboard storage doesn't bother me at all. Just set it all to internal and use an SD for the rest.

Holy crap! I think I'll wait a week to see if it ships because it'll definitely be from the new batch. If it doesn't I'll cancel and wait. Thanks for the info.

The vendor doesn't know when they're getting new stock so I've cancelled. I was disappointed up until I discovered the THL 4000 for half the price with the same 3g frequencies I require and an even larger battery. After reading Gizbot's review and user comments on xda I've ordered it. To be continued.......................................................
