Galaxy S4 clone battery
#1
The battery of my Galaxy S4 clone is 3.6mm thick, it seems to have a capacity of less than 1000mAh, hence depleted very fast. So I bought a genuine Galaxy S4 battery that has 2600mAh capacity, unfortunately it is 5.0mm thick, so when it is put in place, the back cover cannot be closed.
It would be great if some one could inform me where to possible get a Galaxy S4 clone battery that is 3.6mm thick but has a capacity of 2600mAh.
Your information will be highly appreciated.

I hate to the the bearer of bad news, but it is highly doubtful that you will be able to find a replacement battery for an unknown brand that is physically smaller but has the same storage capacity as a well known and ubiquitous brand.

In fact, it may be a minor miracle to find decent OEM replacements that you could use with an external charger and carry charged spares. I suppose the first step is finding out who actually made the phone.

In my experience, there are many "Star" and "HDC" products that could be the true brand of the product. You really need to get this information from your supplier.

Perhaps you may be better off just getting a good external battery pack...

Keep us updated!

Thank you so much edcoolio for your response.
You are right, smaller volume cannot have the same capacity. But if the technology and material used is the same, the capacity should be proportional to its volume, so it should be approximately 3.6/5*2600 =
1872mAh, whereas mine is less than 1000mAh.
The mobile phone was bought in China, as clone everything is SAMSUNG, so it is hard to find what could be the true brand. Following is the "About device" though:

Model number: GT-I9500
Baseband version: MT6589
CPU model: Quad-Core ARMv7 Processor
Android version: 4.2.2
Kernel version:
3.4.5-526212
se.infra@SEI-44#1
Wed Apr 24 20.59.59 KST 2013
Build number:
JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDL

Furthermore, the battery size is 57mm x 63mm x 3.6mm.
If I could not find a replacement battery, then it will mean that I have to discard the device once the battery is damaged. What a pity.
Anyone may have the same experience and got a solution, your help will be highly appreciated.

I'm rather sure it is an HDC product.

Unfortunately, they have a LOT of clones out there, each with different basebands (not baseband version, but at least we now know the processor... maybe), build numbers, RAM, ROM, screen size and screen resolution. Some have air gesture, some do not.

Whatever else you can get off the phone for identification (use Uncle Mobile, CPUz, Antutu REAL screen shots, etc) would be helpful.

The best I can say right now is that it is an HDC S4 Galaxy GT-I9500. What exactly is the listed mAh of the battery on the battery itself?

If you could attach a photo of the front and back, showing the location of the contacts, that would also be very helpful.

Either way, you may be essentially out of luck in finding a direct replacement.

Some suggestions:

1. If the samsung battery physically fits in all dimensions (including charging pins) - but is simply too thick-

See if you can go to a store that sells battery housing replacements that will allow you to attempt to snap on a REAL Samsung rear battery housing on to your phone (or at least buy one with the ability to return it if it doesn't fit properly). If it fits, then you are in good shape. You can buy an extended capacity battery, like a Hyperion or Anker of the 5200-5800mAh variety. These companies also sell back cover battery housings to contain their larger batteries in the 7200mAh range. Put the "smaller" battery in the back battery housing designed for a "larger" battery. Your phone will be fat, but you will have a huge upgrade in battery. Put a spacer as necessary to keep it from bouncing around. Done.

Of course, using this method, if you want to keep the profile as thin as possible, use standard Samsung batteries in the smaller back battery housings....

2. Buy an external rechargable case that fits like a case over the device. Again, you must go somewhere you can either return the product or try it on first to make sure it will charge and that the port aligns correctly.

3. I suspect that your battery is 57x63x4mm (listed, not micro metered) . If you are willing to take a chance, that battery size would probably work. Of course, it will be the same mis-labeled crappy battery you have, but it "should" fit. Get an external charger, and swap them out as they get low. The only place I know that would sell you this is Ali-Express - search for the following:

63*57*4mm

It should pop up a couple of options. Of course, you could save money by finding one of the thousand of cheap clone batteries on there and see if you can get one of the suppliers to measure thickness honestly...

If the "thinnest" battery of 4mm doesn't quite fit, you can use the old trick of removing the cover on the battery itself, but you take all physical risk to life and limb if you go that route as this is for informational purposes only and absolutely not recommended by me nor anyone affiliated with this website - batteries are designed to function safely as-is, not as modified by end users. That being said, it is what it is. Data for you.

Again, keep us up to date, and best of luck!!

I really appreciate your attempt to help edcoolio.
My battery looks almost the same as Samsung genuine S4 battery, only thinner, 3.6mm I got using micro-caliper, so 4mm should be OK. The capacity written on it is 2600mAh.

Following your advice I found below website that has a battery with the size 63*57*4mm, it look exactly the same as mine:

The problem is whether the advertised capacity is real, because the price is not so cheap. However, this could be the solution, should one day my battery is dead and I want to keep the mobile phone.
