[How-To] ** Calculating new EBR1&2 and new Scatter-File Address for Repartitioning **
#1
First make Backup from your Phone!
All you do - at your own risk!

I tested this on Android 4.2.x and on MTK emmc based Devices!

Good evening from Spain Louis.
First of all, an interesting post where we know more about chinese mobiles. Thank you.
And now I explain you my doubts.
My type of phone is HDC S5 MTK6582 RAM 2Gb and ROM 16 Gb. I downloaded a stock ROM which I can restore the phone when needed if it bricks.
I've followed all the steps in your post but...the structure of my scatter file doesn't seem as yours. Here it is the parts in question:

- partition_index: SYS18
partition_name: USRDATA
file_name: userdata.img
is_download: true
type: YAFFS_IMG
linear_start_addr: 0x4c180000
physical_start_addr: 0x4bb80000
partition_size: 0x40000000
region: EMMC_USER
storage: HW_STORAGE_EMMC
boundary_check: true
is_reserved: false
operation_type: UPDATE
reserve: 0x00

- partition_index: SYS19
partition_name: FAT
file_name: NONE
is_download: false
type: NONE
linear_start_addr: 0x8c180000
physical_start_addr: 0x8bb80000
partition_size: 0x0
region: EMMC_USER
storage: HW_STORAGE_EMMC
boundary_check: true
is_reserved: false
operation_type: INVISIBLE
reserve: 0x00

Each partition (USRDATA and FAT) has three addresses. Which one I have to modify?

Thanks in advance.

Regards from Seville (Spain)

Manuel

The EBR tweak inside archive is 1.0a (not 1.01) Is it right?

Whats about the scatter file that is created with newer version of MTKDroid and are biiuger than 512 byte?

Is not necessary to change in scatter file also

USRDATA lenght
FAT lenght

Thanks.

Hi Manuel,

first a questions:

Which CWM Recovery you have installed?
Your Device are rooted?
Dowload MTK Droidtools 2.48b from my Link.
Make a Backup with this Version!
Ignore the Message of newer Version 2.53!

You can check additional Usrdata & Cache. Hope your SDCard have enough Space. MTK store the Backup first on SDCard - then on PC. When Backup finished - click on to prepare to Flashtools.

In this Folder you will found the same Scatter like mine and the 2 EBR Files with 512B.

Install Terminal Emulator from Pallevic.
The first command is:
cat /proc/dumchar_info
next
cat /proc/partitions
last
df
Post the issue here. Post Scatter or the End of the Scatter with usrdata and Fat too.

What I see in your Scatter, you have 1GB internal Storage. I think, your Phone Storage have about 16GB.

I recomm. for you about 2.5GB Internal Storage. (max. 4GB) I think this is enough for Apps. Remember, CWM must backup System etc, and the usrdata Section - now with 2.5GB. If it to large, you have maybe Problems. My Phones have all 2.5GB and I have about 200 Apps installed and about 1GB free!

Tell me the Size of your new Internal Storage and I post you the right Address-Size for your Scatter.

You send me your EBR1 & 2 and your Scatter File as zip/rar from this new 2.48b Backup/Folder per PM. I changed it for you and send it per PM. You only have to flash it.

So long

Could you ,make small changes to your app EBRtweak

- to show in confirmation text string (type Y(N) also the value of new USRData (in GB) as confirmation?
- to show at end the userdata space size and FAT space size (to check/compare with scatter file)?

Thanks.

Hello,

I don't understand your Question. Please ask again.

The EBRTweak I can not change. I have no Compiler for this. It was developed from Burs and grittyKitty - not from me.

If you like send me your EBR1&2 and your Scatter File as zip per PM. I changed it for you. Don't forget the Size for your new Internal Storage.

MTKdroid cannot be sued with MTK6592. For that ypou neeed MTLDroid 2.53

What kind of program do you need to compile you source code?

Thanks.

Hi again Louis

I answer your questions.
Device is rooted with framaroot 1.9.3 (third option)
CWM is installed with your MTK Tools
That's it! 1 Gb internal, 16 Gb phone storage and I'd like to increase the internal till 4 Gb.

Amazing! I've done all what said and bingo!! (as we say here in Spain). The scatter file has the same structure as yours. Here it is:

USRDATA 0x4c180000
{
}
__NODL_FAT 0x8c180000
{
}
__NODL_BMTPOOL 0xffff00a8
{
}

Don't mind about the EBR,s file. I only need the modified addresses of the scatter file for 4 Gb internal. I'll write the EBR files with EBRTweak and I'll tell youhow all the process has gone.

Thanks in advance again.

Regards from Seville.

Hi Manuel,

I'm glad, that you have found the right way.

Here is the Address for FAT Section.
4c180000+100000000=14c180000!

Please change only the FAT-Address!

Store all Files - EBR1&2 and Scatter for future. (old & new)

If you maybe try a new ROM - use the new Files and Scatter!

So, I'm waiting for your answer after flashing!

Greetings from Germany! (near Stuttgart)

Hi Louis.

Sorry for taking so long to write. I tell you my quest.

I did all that you wrote in your posts but...I had problems.
I made a backup with your version of MTKTools. I changed the EBR and the scatter file for 4 Gb as you tell.

My first problem. When I loaded the back up files to flash tools, there were files that MTK hadn't made. Buuf...What did I do? I replaced those which I hadn't with the original files of the ROM.

Second problem. The modified scatter file didn't match with the files chosen in flash tools. At that moment I started to sweat.

New trick Louis. With your data, I will show you now how I solved it.

scatter with your MTK

USRDATA 0x4c180000
{
}
__NODL_FAT 0x8c180000
{
}

original scatter

- partition_index: SYS18
partition_name: USRDATA
file_name: userdata.img
is_download: true
type: YAFFS_IMG
linear_start_addr: 0x4c180000
physical_start_addr: 0x4bb80000
partition_size: 0x40000000
...

- partition_index: SYS19
partition_name: FAT
file_name: NONE
is_download: false
type: NONE
linear_start_addr: 0x8c180000
physical_start_addr: 0x8bb80000
partition_size: 0x0
...

If you have a look you will see that the address of your scatter matches with the linear start address of my scatter. Yeah!!

Then I modified the my scatter as you say at the beginnig and went to flash tools.

Third problem. As I wrote before, the EBR files were for 4 Gb. When I clicked the download button, Flash tools showed me an error which the phone hadn't enough memory. Fuc...program!!!
Finally, Flash tools granted the 2 Gb EBR files and I managed the target.

A scary story, isn't it?

Regards from Seville.

Manuel.
