Got my inew V3 less than 24h ago, and have a couple problems.
1 I solved which was the phone wasn't charging to 100%, but after deleting the battery stats file it's OK now. I also have the date time error but doesn't bother me much since I just set the time through a terminal. The phone came with ROM 1.0.1 24/December.
Everything else appears to work, but the compass is not, it always points to the same side of the phone even if I do a 360 degree rotation. It just doesn't work for detecting north, but it does detect magnets when I put one close enough.
Do you guys have this problem? Or it's just that this compass can't detect north? Any setting to calibrate it?
Also, with brightness on full and with a black background, I can see some 4 or 5 stuck pixels that let light go through. Can only see it with a black background, but I am a bit disappointed with the phone like this, if the compass works for other ppl looks like I'll be returning this unit. otherwise, it's a really cool phone.
I'm not at home now but later on I will try the ROM from here to see if it fixes the compass.

My compass is working fine. Make sure you're on 24-DEC-2013 firmware. Also check with z-device tester from Play. Also on Play there are several compass apps that have some options to help with calibration.
Several dead pixels are normally 'acceptable' with LCDs with millions of them.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:In LCD manufacture, it is common for a display to be manufactured that has a number of sub-pixel defects (each pixel is composed of three primary-colored sub-pixels). The number of faulty pixels tolerated, before a screen is rejected, is dependent on the class that the manufacturer has given the display (although officially described by the ISO 13406-2 standard, not all manufacturers interpret this standard the same way, or follow it at all).

I understand your annoyance with it though. You need to decide whether up to a couple months of hassle is worth it for the dead pixels.
Of course, see if you can get the compass working first before deciding on the pixel issue.

yes, i was on the 24-DEC-2013 firmware, and to make sure just now i sptool flashed the 24-DEC-2013 firmware from the links here, which i believe is latest rom, but after the flash the compass still had same problem. I also tried 3 diferent compass apps from the play store, all had same problem. Z-device tester detected the compass as the magnetometer but it also failed to point north, and following some calibration tutorials i found online also didn't work
But, i did something that worked... I hit it with my hand hard on the sides!!... now it works fine... so i guess it was stuck or something...!
The dead pixels wouldn't bother me if i didn't know they are there, cause i rarelly spot them, but too late now, i know they're there... fortunately 90% of the time i don't see them.
Kinda sad that the compass works now, would give me a sure reason to get a new phone... but i bought it under european warranty, which means i have 14 days to decide if i wanna keep the phone or return it, so still have some time to decide.
Good news also is that now i can access date & time.

If they're stuck, maybe you could un-stuck them. There are some screen calibration software you might try to unstuck them (if they're dead, no point in doing that). Such software have many LCD tests (such as rapidly changing the background in different colors), so you might give it a try. I had some success with that in the past. Also, some manufacturers have a tolerance for the number of dead/stuck pixels, so check that with the seller first.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, yesterday i already tried 3 or 4 different apps for dead pixels, one i ran for 30min. non stop, and no go :/
I wonder if they can spread over time... @@
Maybe i'll end up asking for a new phone or this will haunt me forever lol and regarding the tolerance for the number of dead/stuck pixels i'm not too worried about that cause the phone was sold to me under local european warranty law, so i have 2 weeks to decide if i want to return the phone or not, for whatever reason ^^
Plus, the left menu button, it has light bleed through the edge of the glass, I know can't expect flawless build from relatively unknow chinese manufacturers, but that's also a bit annoying...

The issue with the light bleed on the left menu button is a common issue with iNew v3. I've had 2, and they both had it. Overall, the phone is excellent. This is just something you have to deal with. These little issues with China brands, and with electronics in general.

I wouldn't get rid of it. Considering the flaws, it could be the very first sample that walked out of the factory! It's priceless! Joking aside. Yeah, returning anything no matter the reason is a great plus. I would to the same.
Better luck next time

Tks for all the help ^^
The seller is out of stock so i'll ask him how long it would take to get a replacement phone and then decide.

The compass stops working if the phone is connected to the usb charger...
Could you guys pls test if your compass continues to work after you connect the phone to the charger?

Well, it makes sense. Sort of. Where's the electricity, there's magnetic field too
Since the compass is based on magnetism too, maybe there's some interference going on?
