Hi All,
I seem to be having a GPS problem also.
I am located in Australia.
My V3 doesn't even seem to see any satellites let alone lock on to them. I don't know if my GPS chip is faulty or whether it is because I am in Australia and it is still trying to look for Chinese satellites.
GPS Test shows 0 satellites in view.
I would like to try GPSFix to change my location but I require root and can't/don't know how to get root.
Tried using the Shuame program which I believe uses a program called Root Genius but it fails in the root process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Welcome to the forum.

There are several ways to go about it. You can use vroot, or you can install CWM and then flash SU within recovery, or you can install the 'Ultimate' pre-rooted 1.0.3 from this forum.

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

So I tried to install the Ultimate rom but I'm stuck at the stage where I'm supposed to flash the rom using SP Tools. SP Tools seems to not detect my phone.
I've installed the PDANet drivers, downloaded the latest SP Tools and the Ultimate rom, opened up SP Tools selected the scatter file from the folder and clicked the Firmware Upgrade button and then connected my turned off phone. Nothing happens except the phone goes into it's normal charge mode. I have also tried taking the battery out for a second and then putting it back in but it still does the same thing.
Any idea why it doesn't seem to detect the phone or want to flash the rom?

Cityfun: I am running Windows 7 x64.
Burs: I read through that thread last night but I believe my problem is a little different. Andy seems to be seeing the satellites just not locking on to them. From his GPS test screenshot he has 9 satellites in view. On my GPS test it says 0 satellites in view. I am still attempting to root my phone so I can try and see if using GPSFix will help but I can't seem to flash the Ultimate rom.
Edit: I have now got root through the Quick Root method posted by GIzbeat with the Chinese program. Installed FasterGPS and changed my time servers to Australian time servers. Running GPS test now, with one satellite in view. Looking promising. I'll let GPS test run for a while and see how I go. I'll update this thread with my results.

Still no luck, only detecting one satellite in GPS test. Any ideas? AGPS and EPO is turned on, turned off WiFi when testing but only detecting one satellite hence can't even find my coordinates.

Any other possible solutions for the crappy GPS?, it's only ever detecting one satellite, but it varies between different satellites. It never locks onto a signal and thus never finds my coordinates. Could it be a faulty GPS chip? Can you have a faulty GPS chip without any of the other chips being faulty because the phone works well apart from the GPS.
