[Question] MIUI7 for D6000?
#1
Does anyone know someone who's into modding ROMs, especially porting MIUI ROMs to other devices? If you have a look to

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

you will find that the hardware configuration of the Xiaomi Mi4i is quite similar to our innos D6k (well, except the batteries)... for someone who's used to port ROMs, I guess this shouldn't be a too difficult task... more difficult it seems to find someone interested for "the job"...

MIUI7 is available for Mi4i as Global/Chinese/Developer(Rooted!) ROM...

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

From my point of view the D6000 has a lot of potential as I need a PHONE with the features promised (long battery life, dual SIM, global LTE frequencies, large memory...), hardware would be ideal for me, but software still sucks and I'm tired to search for additional applications and workarounds to fix lags in software, wasting my time, hoping for a new update again and again which "bug fixes" and doesn't "bug mixes"...

Anyone who can find a person I was mentioning above... if some donation is needed and some people (like me) are ready to hit the button to spend a few bucks, maybe there is a chance for a stable working device in future... I doubt that innos is capable and willing to deliver a final satisfactory result...

Last but not least, I left a request in the ROM request section of MIUI forum (porting team). Every supporting comment or additional "yes please" could maybe increase the chances to get someone interested...

Have a nice day everyone!

All ROM except for 3.0 are very good. I've got no problems. MIUI possibly could be ported, but that won't fix anything... Especially since there's nothing actually wrong with the v2.X ROM. If anything, ports generally create more issues.

The LTE is not global. Most places in America and surrounding countries it will not work. 3G is good to go though.[/i]

Well, with all my respect, I really do not share your opinion... if all ROMs would be very good, we won't need third party recovery, flashing tools, workarounds, etc. and updates to fix BASIC functions... I'm not talking about special features for music, media, etc.

I stay with V2.7 and still experience certain occational reboots (e.g. during voice call VOIP)... it's just hard to understand and accept that so far there's no reliable working ROM for this device (and this is not just the fact for international users, you should take some time and go through the chinese forums...).

My wife is Chinese and we tried to call the service of innos a few times or communicate with their online shop communicator in JD (www dot jd dot com)... no response... so, also very good???

Please don't misunderstand, I need my phone for work/business and not for fancy games or as a gettoblaster... I need to rely on it... so far nobody can, at least not for 100%.

Different opinions make the world go 'round. I've had no problem with resets. The phone has been 100% reliable and many people share the same opinion.

Custom ROM generally don't exist because there's problems, but because people like to tinker and add additional functionality. The majority of work is spent getting the bugs out of the custom ROM, not fixing bugs from the original ROM. I'm speaking about the majority of time, obviously there are times when developers fix issues from stock ROM.

You can look at most any CM12.1 ROM and see there are almost always new bugs to be worked out. The exception might be the top flagship popular brand phones that have very serious developers working on them.

What isn't opinion, is that generally no manufacturer releases source code unless the model goes officially international.

I agree. The phone is not catastrophic, but it could be really improved. Personally (v3.0) i got a lot of freezing when typing, and when using apps ant taping home button it ALWAYS "think" for like 2 seconds and then go to homescreen (changing launchers won't make it better). Sometimes it even lag when playing not so heavy games (Hearthstone) or when playing a video when 3 or 4 apps are open in the background. It is really disapointing when knowing the hardware inside.

To be honnest i had before that phone a Jiayu G4S (mediatek octocore, 2GB RAM) and it felt less laggy and faster. Truth is, the base ROM was Android 4.4, the GPS was extremly shitty and the Compass was not even working at all. BUT, a guy named Bastilos who makes ROM on Needrom made an excellent portage of MIUI 7 on it, he repaired the GPS, repaired the compass. The MIUI was so good, really fast ROM and so convenient. That's why i agree with you because i know if someone as skilled as him can port that ROM on the D6000 it could be really an awesome phone.

Hi there,

I had MIUI ROMs on other phones earlier (Samsung, Motorola) for family members without a real flaw... (well, as MegaManX said, there is always bits and pieces, but no serious issues...), still have a Mi2SC as backup just in case, purchased 5 Xiaomi phones in total (wife, kids, me)... always satisfied. I went for innos because the D6000 is all-network (3 different providers, 3 different broadcasts in 3G & 4G) in China and fully capable of 4G networks in Germany and Europe, even band B20 for German rural areas 4G (T-mobile, Vodafon).

For now I'd recommend to do a clean flash, back to V2.7 (for me GB-US/CN is just enough, I installed Multiling keyboard V 1.1.7 to enter/read text in other languages) - I installed permanent TWPR to be always on the safe side, if once you have rooted your phone, it always brings it back after flash/upgrade. Installing TWPR manager later gives you a few options too without fiddling with buttons... if you got TWPR, root, gapps and V2.7 (SD ROM) you're ready to go... installing a different launcher (Nova in my case, see play store) and greenify (app in playstore) your phone should win you a lot of speed... additionally I got F-Droid on my phone, through it you might want to install Adaway which eliminates at least 90% of Ads if you use a lot of free stuff from playstore...

The next thing I will try for myself is "Xposed" framework and if this has got some use for me.

well thank you very much. I stayed on 3.0 but greenify and F-Droid are very usefull. I would advise to use a firewall as well. I am using AFWall+ and it blocks random connexions from weird chinese system apps. A lot of them, So now my phone is a little faster, which is nice Smiling

I also recommend disabling all animations in dev options and using Apex launcher (disable app drawer cards for Apex too). This made a huge difference for me.

Okay, I'll try it, thanks. By the way, is anyone have any idea what is this chineses applications ? Personally i have two, one who look like a cloud thing (i disabled it from app manager) and the second one is a big "S" on something like a snowy mountain. I tried to disabled it but it says about removing updates and factory settings of the app, so i am not sure what to do with it. I think it is this app that always try to connect to the internet but AFWall+ blocks it every minutes or so.

The "cloud thing" is a Chinese weather app (you can disable App in system settings), the other one is "Sugo", chinese input app (keyboard)... install any keyboard of your liking and disable Sugo in system settings.
