JIAYU S3 - STRENGTHS

Finally I have found a ROM (custom) with a good compromise between performance and overheating. It is called "JIAYU S3". It is based on version 4.4.4, but it has not given me any problem about "misunderstanding storage" (I have already talked about this issue in my tutorial/review ... see "KITKAT 4.4.4 - STRENGTHS AND FLAWS" for more details). While with Lollipop & SpaceRom (during a telephone conversation of just 10 minutes) my Ecoo had a serious problem of overheating (my ear was burning and the back/top of my Ecoo was red-hot), instead with the custom rom Jiayu heats up very little. In the following screenshoots you will evaluate the real technical details & performances about JIAYU S3 custom rom (click images to enlarge):

root - HOW TO:

Same procedure as in Lollipop (in my review/tutorial).

Xposed Framework - HOW TO

Install the apk from the official site. I suggest you the version 2.6.1 Stable.

"Wondershare MobileGo for Android" recognized the device, and I have been able to import all my contacts (in vcf format) and to install/uninstall apps without any difficulty.

INSTALL JIAYU S3 - HOW TO

Although it may seem like a cumbersome process, at first I suggest to flash the next Kitkat 4.4.4 rom :

FUNDAMENTAL :

Before flashing the KK rom, please overwrite the original recovery.img with the recovery.img that you will find at the next link :

After flashing, please copy the "ECOO_E04_2GB_3GB-jiayu_S3__os.zip" on your microSD. You will find the Jiayu zip at the next link :

And then, turn off the smartphone; turn it back on while simultaneously pressing the power button + volume up. You will see the display completely black and white lines of commands having microscopic dimensions; you will have to move to the first line using the volume + button, and confirm the command by pressing the volume -. You will enter into TWRP custom recovery. Please follow the next steps :
1) Choose “Advanced Wipe”.
2) Select Dalvik Cache, System, Data and Cache then swipe to wipe.
3) Choose “Install” from main menu.
4) Choose “Storage”.
5) Choose the storage where you have put your ROM zip file (external microSD).
6) Browse your file system and find the ROM zip file and tap on it.
7) Swipe to install ROM.
8) Reboot.

JIAYU S3 - DEFECTS

If Lollipop & SpaceRom had overheating issue during a phone conversation, they had, however, no overheating issue with the apps. Instead, Jiayu has a slight problem of overheating when you run the apps. But since the Ecoo e04 Aurora is a phone first, I preferred to give priority to the overheating issue during a telephone conversation. However, I'm working to solve the overheating issue of the apps. I have found "Performance Profile" (an Xposed module) that allows to change performance per application; I'm trying to reduce the CPU usage to those applications that don't require much power.

I just installed the Jiayu S3 ROM via the SpaceROM TWRP and all things were fine, but the Jiayu ROM doesn't read any of my 2 SIM cards!! It says that No SIM card is inserted! Also, when I start the phone, the SpaceROM logo appears, but when I try to enter Recovery Mode, it crashes. I think I will flash SpaceROM again and I'll see...

I'm sorry I interrupted your movie. But nope, this KitKat ROM won't flash. It shows DRAM Error after the Format. I can't go back to KK...

But the SpaceROM with the same procedure, it flashes with no problems. I installed Jiayu ROM second time from Simone's TWRP and I also installed SuperSU and Busy, but the SIM problem remains... I liked the Jiayu ROM, it's beautiful and all the Apps that had problems with SpaceROM are working fine at Jiayu, but the phone looks like a tablet without the SIMs... (Wi-Fi is working)

I'm downloading CM12.1 from your other tread now, but I want 4G... I'll see what I can do.

I have personally tested each step before publishing my two tutorials about Ecoo Aurora Plus.
The screenshots prove that everything worked fine. Are you sure to have faithfully followed all the steps suggested by me ?

Ciao Cleopatra,
ho letto il tuo ottimo e lungo tutorial con la prova di varie ROM.
Non sono pratico nel flashare il telefono e ho titubanza nel farlo ma se può servire a risolvere il problema...
Ecoo e04 3gb mi riconosce la micrdoSD ma non mi permette di passarci sopra le APP anche se mi fa scegliere in "memoria" su quale parte preferita posso salvare (telefono - microSD)
Anche avendo scelto micrdoSD tutte le app sono salvate nel telefono e anche con altre app per provare a spostarle mi viene negato (non ce provano neanche...)
inoltre, mi sembra di aver notato un volume audio molto basso durante le chiamate... faccio quasi fatica a sentire la voce per strada.

Se mi impegno a cambiare la room pensi che riesco a risolvere questi problemi?? Alla fine di tutte le tue prove, cosa mi consigli?

Ho già provato anzitutto a prendere i permessi di root... già al primo passaggio Flashing the ROM "ECOO 3GB 5.0 E04 + TWRP" with SP Flash Tool non riesco... i driver mi sembra siano stati inseriti regolarmente, ma non mi legge il telefono... scelgo il file.... imposto "download" premo download.... collego il telefono spento al pc.... non succede nulla...
Curiosità: questa procedura mi cancella dati nella microSD??

Benvenuto su Chinaphonearena :-)
Innanzitutto desidererei sapere che ROM è installata sul tuo Ecoo di fabbrica.
Anche se sul sito ufficiale di Ecoo, su Needrom ed altri siti sono facilmente reperibili le Stock ROMs (ossia le ROMs ufficiali rilasciate dal costruttore), è sempre meglio fare un backup dell'intero sistema operativo (dati personali compresi) PRIMA DI PROVARE AD INSTALLARE altre ROMs, sia che esse siano Stock oppure Custom (ossia ROMs modificate). Non perderai affatto i dati contenuti nella microSD esterna (è per quello che il backup dell'intero sistema e dei dati è consigliabile farlo su microSD).
Per il volume basso del tuo Ecoo non temere, ho personalmente alterato i parametri audio con successo e ti posterò i settaggi. Per quanto concerne lo spostamento delle app purtroppo posso solo suggerirti alcune app, poichè mi è stato sconsigliato di spostarle e non ne ho mai avuto necessità.
Infine, ma non per importanza (anzi questo è il punto fondamentale), ti suggerisco vivamente la SpaceRom, mentre per i driver ti consiglio i medesimi che ho installato sul mio pc (prima cartella all'interno dello zip) ... copio ed incollo di seguito sia il link che la serie di steps da seguire (in inglese perchè già suggeriti ad altri utenti) ... se hai già Windows 7 passa direttamente ad "OTHER STEPS" :

Please READ CAREFULLY the next steps :

Remember to disable Driver Signature Enforcement on Windows 8.
1) Press the Win + C keyboard combination to bring up the Charms Bar, then click on the Settings Charm.
2) We need to head into the Modern Control Panel, so go ahead and click on the Change PC settings link.
3) When the Control Panel opens, switch over to the “Update & recovery” section.
4) Then click on the Recovery option on the left hand side.
5) Once selected, you will see an advanced startup section appear on the right hand side. You will need to click on the “Restart now” button.
6) Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option.
7) Then head into Advanced options.
8) Then Startup Settings.
9) Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time.
10) You will be given a list of startup settings that you can change (press the F7 key).
OTHER STEPS :
Right click and select Update Device Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of drivers installed on my computer.
Select Show all and click next.
Click Have Disk, then Browse.
Go to your extracted folder and go into it, until a file called (android_winusb.inf ... for example) is there. Double click that.
Click OK and then Next (If it says not signed, just click next anyway).
Wait and if it says not signed, click install drivers anyway.

(il telefono mi permette di salvare solo dati e/o app... devo studiare come salvare il sistema...)
Scaricato driver... ho win7 home premium... passo subito a "OTHER STEPS"... con la prima cartella nello zip android "driver win7_8"... ora ci provo...
Vada per la SpaceROm
Poi ci aggiorniamo anche per i parametri audio...
