[THL T200C] My running review, thoughts, and opinions
#61
yes ...that's it .... can work as module and standalone app but it is recomended to use with exposed framework because of some features missing i think ... didn't try without exposed.... i download it from xda thread .... sideload ... you get full version from there... from playstore you can download for free lite version and full version is few $

i done parallel testing with note 2 cause my friend ( owner of note 2) is a bit sceptic about cheap chinese phones Big Grin or better said non top brand phones.... enough to say is that he change his mind completely Smiling .... i was interested also offcourse .... especially to compare with amoled screen .... all in all both screens are great .... but prices are not similar Smiling

Finally my THL T200c has arrived yesterday. I was playing with it since then and i can tell you that this phone is awesome!!! Everything runs smoothly, no lags at all. I even managed to get Half Life 2 running at pretty playable speed (just most textures are really messed up and I can even see through some walls lol).

Battery life is also really amazing. 35% used with 3 hours on screen on lowest brightness, spotify was always playing music and some wifi (turned both SIMs off though)

Display is FANTASTIC!! I am really happy that I did not buy 1080p version of this phone (T200). Would be totally waste of battery.

OTG and NFC works nicely. I was really surprised that it supports my Ipega PG9025 controller natively! People who tried ipega controllers on their phones with previous mediatek socs will know what I am talking about...

So I think that's pretty much it! Sorry about such messy post, I am a little bit in a hurry. But if you have any questions, go ahead and ask!

DUDE! SUPER stoked it came, man! I was under the impression you had this already. Didn't you order it forever ago? I hope you dig your new toy as much as I've been enjoying mine!

It's also pretty unbelievably sweet that your phone's limitation gives you Superman X-Ray vision in Half-Life! BOOYAH!

I've never even thought of using a gamepad with my phone, but your post really gave me the itch to try to play the original NES's "Legend of Zelda". I never did find those stupid magic arrows when I was a kid. Perhaps it's time I go back and re-hash some old business...

Agreed... Ordered it on 2nd of May and chosen free shipping... That was a HUGE mistake, because they sent it to me via Sweden Post, which is absolutely horrible!!! Even Singapore post is better...

Haha, but this superman vision sometimes make game unplayable, because sometime you can also see through the floor lol

Oh man, if you like to play console games, you should really get controller for your phone!! There are some games where touch controlls are gonna be horrible (for instance Resident Evil series (ps1) where you have to press three buttons at the time). Also it works for a few native android games (gta, asphalt and a few more). Also you can map buttons to the screen, which is also really nice.

ok..am back here after nearly two months of usage..

phone thlt200c working great so far..battery still fast charges even on the thl charger and tops up in nearly ten minutes(that happens in 6/10 charges)..and stil lasts on for a day..dont know how and why?..battery is great and lasts me nearly 24 hours on one charge..sometimes even more..is a more powerful battery available now with a wall charger? am yet to buy a second battery..

yes the screen is difficult in brightdaylight..but i usually use indoors..720 p is more than enough.

no problems with 64gb sd card read write...(its strontium)...

GPS..still struggling to use it properly..using with google maps only..

sound out put...did xda tweak in engineering mode..but still speaker output is low..
just installed viper4fx after reading xda post...but not sure how to use it?

have not installed cwm or mtk droid tools or exposed framework(whats it??how it helps??,,am a noob on this..)..
mine is software dated feb 13 2014 rooted with etotalk..

camere...superb with great pictures and videos (both 13mp back and 5 mp front)

call clarity(most important for a phone).. no issues..butpeople do complain that my voice is not loud at times..especially while on the rambothec add on aux in bluetooth attchment on my car stereo..

origninal screen gaurd full of scratches..got a window case for $9 fro alibaba which am yet to use..presently put the back matte black cover only without flap..

overll a great 6 incher to buy for around $240..maybe its cheaper now..

I don't have much time but I want to quickly address this. I wondered a lot of these things when I was new to these forums many months ago. Hope this is helpful.

Xposed Framework allows users to modify various low-level parts of their operating system without flashing a new ROM. That is, if you have a very stock (aka "vanilla" aka "AOSP") install to begin with, you can use this tool to give you access to start customizing parts of your phone on the fly without having to flash a new ROM each time.

MTK Droid Tools is a Windows-based application intended to be used with devices running a MediaTek (aka MTK) processor. It provides an interface between the PC and phone to provide low-level access. In short, this tool allows users like us to make firmware backups of our phones, to flash new ROMs to our phones, or to (hopefully) recover our phones should they ever become soft-bricked.

CWM (ClockWork Mod) and TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) are both custom recoveries. A "recovery" is a piece of software that runs before a full operating system load and allows us to intervene in order to perform some low level tasks. I mentally make it analogous to the "Advanced Boot Menu" in Windows.

Do you remember in Windows when something went bonkers, you'd end up hitting "F8" during startup? Instead of loading the OS, it brought you to a menu where you could repair Windows, launch Safe Mode, or go just to the command prompt. An Android "recovery" is very much like this.

Android itself comes with a stock recovery -- intended to recover the phone in case anything goes wonky. As I said before CWM and TWRP are both custom recoveries. Instead of being just just to fix/recover a broken android system, they can be used to flash custom ROMs or even swap between various ROMs.

Hope that helps. To anyone more knowledgeable than myself, please feel free to correct anything I may have said which isn't totally correct. I'm still pretty new to all of this myself.

Cheers!

update on bluetooth...i am able to stream music from my thlt200 to my aux in car blue tooth adapter ( rambotech addon car stereo adapter) without any problems at all...and also able to use for recieving calls over the speaker.

screengaurd that came with the phone already looking scratched in 15 days of use!

You don't need a screen protector, since not only do they scratch and look horrible your screen is made of gorrila glass 3 so no need just enjoy that lovely glossy screen

Thanks @ksean007 . I agree. I haven't had a screen protector on mine at all, nor do I have plans to put one on. Just make sure you're not storing your phone in the same pocket as your keys/knife/whatever.

Do you like your controller with Asphalt? I'm playing it almost daily right now. The native controls can get super frustrating since occasionally the sensors seem to lock up for a fraction of a second. That kind of delay in a real-time driving game is.... well, frustrating. Angry

Oh, playing with controller is MUCH better than using sensors/touchscreen! I think you can try any controller via otg cable (tried cheap ps3 controller clone and even that was working!!!). About Asphalt 8, yeah, it helped to win a lot of races in multiplayer mode (used to lose races all the time because of really uncomfortable controls Sad )

Overall, I recommend it even if you are not playing a lot. It is not that expensive and it is really nice to play games with it.

P.S. I am using ipega PG-9025 by the way. I was really surprised that my THL T200c was able to fit it even though specs says that largest phone which can fit into controller is 5.5 inches size.

P.P.S. Today I also experienced this fast charge. Unfortunately, battery is not lasting as it should (69% in 2h27min, screen on 17 minutes). Is anyone actually using original THL charger? Because this fast charge thing happened to me only then when I was using ipad mini charger. Also, guys back in the another forum forums suggested to use samsung note 3 charger, which looks to me kind of too powerful. So any ideas about the chargers?

usblaids..i use both the thlcharger and an ankerquadport one..fast charge seems to occur withboth...and sometimes it lasts for a day after fast charge and sometimes it doesnt and just goes off in a few hours after fast charge..not sure whether its a battery issue or charger board issue..

i dont think powerful chargers can cause any damage..the battery can take only the max mah it can irrespective of the charger...so i think any charger can be used..i use the anker quad port for two months now as a spare charger and no issues so far..
