hm.. this actually looks promising
keep it up guys!
btw any chance of changing the modem since this one gives me pretty lousy reception which drains my battery? i remember flashing different modems on my sgs and was wondering if the same would be possible on inew...

OK guys... I got wcdma900-enabled nvram backup from a member on my local V3 forum, so there are good news and bad news, which one first?
I've compared wcdma850 and wcdma900 nvram settings and changes are enormous. So I took a risk and restore both BIN and TAR files completely and together. With some little bad side-effects I was booted to my homescreen without much trouble, and everything worked better than I was expecting (it even registers on my network much quicker lol).
Good news is I have this setup in engineer mode :
These band settings are effective across reboots and they are fixed as they are.
Bad news is sitting in the right upper corner of the image. Although wcdma900 is ticked, I'm still on Edge speed. I'm sure that 900Mhz tower is where I am now, but the radio still can't connect to it. Even if I deselect 2100, it's the same thing. Also if I change GSM/WDCMA in settings to WCDMA only, I don't have a signal at all - which again tells me the radio is unable to connect to wcdma.
So, if it's not a hardware thingy afterall, I guess we need something more from the rest of the 1.0.1 firmware. For the whole time I have baseband dated February 25th, but I think we need a modified version (from 1.0.1) of a modem driver or some other crucial file which make wcdma capability complete.
The last thing to try is flashing 1.0.1 firmware over 1.0.8, but with 1.0.8 preloader, and maybe the phone won't be bricked then as others were reporting. But I leave that option to brave ones, since I setuped my phone just the way I like it. I have no other ideas on my mind.
@kokuo: are you sure your phone can be connected at 900Mhz after restoring your nvram backup? Can you check somehow if you're near 900Mhz-only tower? Because as I already described, it doesn't really mean much if the band is enabled and ticked. If you flashed your wcdma900-enabled phone with 1.0.8 version (meaning you have the same radio drivers and other stuff as we have on ours wcdma850), and restored wcdma900 nvram backup afterwards, and wcdma900 is really working, that would clearly show you have different hardware in your phone.
Does that makes sense to anyone? Or my deduction is wrong?

Youre right. if you (burs) dont get 3g 900 and only 3g 850 (assuming 2100 doesnt matter or not ticked for testing purposes) and the network freq are both supported then that would mean that if someone else having 3g 900 work under those conditions in the same support network, would have differant hardware. however, like said, if there is some software part missing then thats also an option.
Myself, i never had no 3g because my network supports 2100 (i think thats why anyways, not been to a underground park yet) and so im always on 3g. as for 850 and 900 id love to have both open and usable because then i could use it on any carrier in my country. yada yada yada

The point is that my provider only uses 2100 band (Simyo - Spain).
I'll try to get some info and maybe another sim card to test with. I'm also planning to use my Lenovo A820 to do some test (like disabling 2000 band, leaving 900 only and check the results).
I'll keep you posted
EDIT:
Ok, after disabling band 2000 on my lenovo A820, I've got H+ connection with 900 band only (using Simyo card).
Doing the same on the iNew V3 results in no 3G connection...
It seems some HW thing then.
Cheers

Are you sure about that? If that's the case, I would say it's NOT a hardware thing.
Because if your V3 is 900/2100, and wcdma900 is not working anymore after flashing 1.0.8 and restoring nvram (although it's ticked in engineer mode), then it's the 1.0.8 firmware files that doesn't allow a modem to connect to wcdma900. It seems you have the same weird side-effect in engineer mode (the settings you see as ticked, are not reflected in real time and can't be trusted).
In the meanwhile, I've done one small test, and I don't know how to explain it. I was in an area with wcdma2100 and had H+ signal, and then I switched off 2100 in engineer mode, and left only 800/850 ticked. Nothing changed! Even after disabling data connection and enabling it again. I still had H+. And I'm very sure there's no wcdma800/850 where I live. Is it somehow switched automaticaly to 2100Mhz as a fail-safe frequency, although 2100 is not ticked? Very strange.
Conclusion to my story is: if someone manages to flash the new 1.0.1 (900/2100) firmware to a 850/2100 phone (possibly with preloader from his original firmware), and restores nvram backup from 900/2100 phone (though that might not be neccessary at all), he would very likely be wcdma900-enabled. So, anyone willing to try it?

Hi Burst
The phone I'm talking about it's not claimed as 2100/900 (back part, under the battery) but 850/2100. It just came with 2000/900 bands enabled (firmware 1.0.1 feb 25th) and 800/850 disabled.
That's why I said I think it may be an HW stuff.
The best thing would be having somebody with certified 900/2100 bands phone doing those tests.
P.S. I'm waiting to receive 6 more iNew V3. Hopefully at least one of them will be a 900/2100
Cheers

hello.
i have a 900/2100 inew v3 in the back battery sticker. inew v3 v1.0.1 2014 baseband and on mobileouncletools it is checked 900 and 2100... So maybe i have the official 900? idk
I have some bugs (home button, deadlocks...), so i want to update the phone, but i think there's a differnet versions of phones and now it's better to no update my phone. As you know, iNEW have uploaded a 1.0.8 official firmware in her website and it's cleary: support 850/2100.
Why they write "support 850/2100" in the firmware update? they have never said the network of the old phone's firmwares (i think because all the old phones were equal ). V3 it's the first. This is the reason why i think there are different phones, 900/2100 and 850/2100.
Thanks for reading and sorry for my english.

You didn't say anything about that in your previous posts. When you said one of your V3's came with new baseband and WCDMA 900 band, I (and probably others too) supposed it has 900/2100 on the sticker. At least that confirms that wcdma900-enabled firmware can be installed on wcdma850 phones. But it would have been interesting to see how the phone would behave if you were using wcdma900 band on your wcdma850 phone with the original 1.0.1 firmware it came with...
