Doogee Dagger DG550 Review Specifications
Doogee is a new brand on the block. They haven’t been around for more than a year, yet have come on very strongly by sponsoring Villarreal football club and having a relatively legit looking English website. I reviewed their website a bit back, but today we’ll be doing a Doogee Dagger DG550 review of specifications […]

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
If you're betrayed, release disappointment at once.
By that way, the bitterness has no time to take root.

Yeah, in their website they changed android version to 4.2.9 (this is what they always do - this version does not even exist). Thank god I did not buy it. But who knows, maybe they made a mistake in their website... Hopefully...

KitKat this, KitKat that. Who cares? All of the good features are Nexus device only.
I do agree the advertising of KitKat and then switching to some strange 4.2.9 is to be looked down upon. Still, I don't care as long as the phone is otherwise a good phone. Which of course remains to be seen.

If it doesn't come with kitkat, it does make a big difference, as the advertisement mislead people, and if a company can't release the OS they are advertising, I wouldn't put any trust in the product.
At this time the phone isn't released so they still have time to put kitkat on it.

Well, I'm quite sure I just mentioned that. Yes, it doesn't look so great for them if they advertise that. But be careful what you expect from mid China brands. THL doesn't even have specs up on some of their most popular phones. Check out the THL W200S spec page: http://en.thl.com.cn/product/w200s.html.
Doogee is light years ahead of most mid-range China brands in terms of marketing and they aren't even a year old yet. They at least have an English based website with specs up on all of their models, even if there are some inconsistencies.
Remember who we're dealing with here and compare apples to apples. Buy a $400+ phone from a top-brand China make, or a $800 phone from Samsung or iPhone and you're sure to get the service you expect and deserve. Buy a $170 phone, something has to be sacrificed along the way. They have at least changed the specs on the front page (but unfortunately not in the specs page).
Don't knee jerk react. Take a minute and think about it.
Am I excusing Doogee? Yes. Somewhat.
Should they strive to improve and could they do better? No doubt.
Will I let the fact that they advertised 4.4 but it doesn't end up having it keep me from buying it assuming it's otherwise a good phone? No way.

If I had pre-bought the phone, I would cancel it, if the phone was sent to me, I would return it, if it has less than kitkat.
This is one reason I don't pre-buy, I did a presell once took a while to get my money back, I wanted my money back cause the pre-sell item spec, changed.
Again I don't know for sure if kitkat is not going to be on phone or not, but if it was me, I would return the phone, if it doesn't have kitkat.
I have bought other phone anyway, JIAKE V8, it doesn't have kitkat either, but wasn't advertised as having kitkat.
I really don't care who I buy from, China, Korea, US, if I don't get what I paid for, they don't get to keep my money.
