Checking Frequency/Band Support
#21
Quote:The MSM8260 is just okay. Even at 1.5GHz, it's not better than standard MTK6589. My K-Touch is significantly slower.

which is that? googling K-Touch doesn't turn up much useful.

be careful that there is a 1.5Ghz dual core processor that is very similar to it, but has a +/- 30% weaker Scorpion architecture instead of Krait and a weaker GPU. seen people mistake it for that one before.

based on DMIPS, MSM8260 should be 2.17 times as powerful as MTK6589 before taking in account the difference in number of cores.

btw, I just read that the adreno 225 GPU in the Haier is considerably stronger than the mtk6589's single core SGX544. "10-12 fps higher on nenamark" presumably.

Antutu shows W910 with [email protected], memorywise, GPU wise and CPU wise to be inferior to MTK6589

I hate to use a fastcardtech video, but here it is on video as well. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]&v=OEUZ2c7wZ7w

Even discounting Antutu possibly unfairly rewarding multiple CPU cores (a whole other topic), it's memory performance and GPU scores are terrible. 2D GPU - 293, 3D GPU - 1239. That's on par with SGX533.

There's a reason this phone is selling with GPS,3G,720p LCD,1GB/8GB for $130.

the first is an old version of antutu. the Haier scores 10.000 on the new**. if you go far enough back, samsung S3 scores 10.000 on old antutu versions*. I'm going to guess the second one is also from the stone age. and yes, it is. just look at the blue loading bar.

the only dual-core thing I've seen score over 10.000 on antutu is the 1.7 - 2.0 Ghz Cortex A15 chips in the Google Nexus 10 tablet or Voyo A15, which score about 12000-13500 with a very advanced graphical chip on their side. So there you have it. It's only somewhat worse than +/- 1.8 Ghz Cortex A15. pretty much what you'd expect on the basis of DMIPS (1.5x3.3 = 4.95; 1.8x3.5 = 6.3).

even 10.000 probably understates its power, though, judging by how much antutu underestimates, for example, the Nexus 4's quad core 1.5Ghz Krait chip. There's no way that one is slower than an MTK T.

** [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] "5.The Antutu benchmark result is now to about 10700-10800"

ps. the GPU scores similar to the Samsung S3's on most of these; nothing wrong with it: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

and yes, this is in combination with the same CPU.

I found a couple other reviews. One screenshot at just under 10k and another on a polish forum saying 11k. So call me surprised (it doesn't happen often Eye ). If you come across a real screenshot of the individual scores, would like to see them. Thumbs Up

We've looked at a few youtube videos of internet browsing on a 2G connection and decided that it was fast enough for what she intended to do. She has wifi access in most areas she regularly goes anyway. So the Haier W910 has been ordered. I'll let her run some benchmarks once she's got it and will report on the results.

good page with comparison between the dual core S4 and mtk6589...

S4 wins on quadrant, vellamo HTML5 and vellamo metal,

mtk wins on antutu (old and new)...

antutu score has tied graphics scores. mtk wins on the CPU part, which, for reasons I have stated before, likely underestimate the krait architecture.

mtk has better power efficiency. again since this is the main selling point of cortex A7, this is expected.

this is quite in line with my expectations.

I would like to add that my Feiteng h9500 is running on AT&T just fine. It is running on 2g and its very fast. I cant complain. You have to manually configure the phone

this video surfaced in which the Haier W910 now scores almost 16000 on the new antutu, putting it squarely above the mtk6589 and matching or even beating the turbo version.

the 3D score looks a bit fishy. I'm speculating that xiaomi's takeover of antutu makes them favor the adreno gpu line. but even accounting for that, the Haier's score is very, very strong.

It's actually also possible that the new shipment of snapdragon S4s comes with the adreno 320 GPU like the site of qualcomm displays... which would be really really cool. That would put this phone into an entirely different league.
