[Tutorial] BROM ERROR-Possible Remedies-Chapter 1°

BROM ERROR
Potential solutions to the common errors of Sp Flash Tool

FIRST CHAPTER

The following is a an inventory of the most common errors of SP Flash Tool
accompanied with a brief explanation and, above all, their eventual solution.

ERROR 1003

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_COM_PORT_OPEN_FAIL (1003)

Meaning : it indicates that there is an issue with the USB ports.
Sometimes this error may simply depends on the COM ports are disabled in the BIOS.

Possible solutions :

1) Enter in the BIOS and check the COM ports are enabled.
2) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
3) Try to replace USB cable.


ERROR 1011

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_NOT_ENOUGH_STORAGE_SPACE (1011)

Meaning : the size of any section of the rom is greater than the allocated space.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
2) Flash a firmware compatible with your phone.


ERROR 1012

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY (1012)

Meaning : you are using a SP Flash Tool version that does not support the size of a file (or all files) of rom.

Possible solutions : Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.


ERROR 1013

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR:S_COM_PORT_OPEN Fail (1013)

Meaning : SP Flash Tool encountered an error during communication between phones and destination port.

Possible solutions :

1) Make sure your smartphone's USB port is not damaged.
2) Try to replace the USB cable.
3) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
4) Try to use a different computer.
5) Make sure that your smartphone is turned off and the battery charged.
6) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
7) Make sure that VCOM driver has installed on your pc.


ERROR 1022

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_UNSUPPORTED_VER_OF_DA (1022)

Meaning : you are using a SP Flash Tool version not compatible with your phone.
Or USB port does not works well.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
2) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.


ERROR 1040

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_UNSUPPORTED_OPERATION (1040)

Meaning : Usually this error appears when you try to load a wrong scatter file.

Possible solutions : You have to use the appropriate scatter file for your phone.


ERROR 1042

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_TIMEOUT (1042)

Meaning : The flash process taken too long, so SP Flash Tool is on time out.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to flash the files one at a time.
2) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
3) Try to use a different computer.
4) Try to replace the USB cable.


ERROR 2

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: ?? (2)

Meaning : SP Flash Tool cannot communicate with your phone.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to replace the USB cable.
2) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
3) Make sure that the VCOM driver is installed on your PC.
4) Try to use a different computer.


ERROR 2004

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_FT_DOWNLOAD_FAIL (2004)

Meaning : There has been a sudden interruption in the communication between SP Flash Tool and your phone.

Possible solutions :

1) Remove the battery for 30 seconds, then reinsert it.
2) Make sure that the battery is charged.
3) Try to replace the USB cable.
4) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
5) Try to use a different computer.


ERROR 2005

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_BROM_CMD_STARTCMD_FAIL (2005)

Meaning : Your phone was turned on before the SP Flash Tool finished the flash process.

Possible solutions :

1) Remove the battery for 30 seconds, then reinsert it.
2) Check that the battery power is not less than 30%.
3) Try to replace the USB cable.
4) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
5) Try to use a different computer.


ERROR 2020

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_BROM_CHKSUM16_MEM_RESULT_DIFF (2020)

Meaning : SP Flash Tool has encountered an issue during the transfer of files to flash into SRAM smartphone.

Possible solutions :

1) In the SP Flash Tool menu bar, click on "Options", "Connection", "Battery" and select "With battery".
2) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
3) Try to press simultaneously "Volume +" and "Volume -" when connect your phone to your PC to flash.


ERROR 3001

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DA_EXT_RAM_ERROR (3001)

Meaning : It indicates a communication problem between your phone and PC.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
2) Try to replace the USB cable.


ERROR 3002

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DA_SETUP_DRAM_FAIL (3002)

Meaning : This error occurs as a result of 2 different kinds of issues :

1) The uboot might have been blocked by "dl info".
2) Issues to system fonts.
Recent Roboto-Regular.ttf / Roboto-Bold.ttf or older DroidSans.ttf / DroidSans-Bold.ttf).

Possible solutions :

1) In the SP Flash Tool menu, click on "Options", "Download"
and put a check mark on "DA DL All with checksum".
2) Replace the system fonts.
Via adb shell: adb push /path/to/backup/DroidSans-Bold.ttf / system / fonts / (repeat for other fonts).


ERROR 3004

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_DA_DRAM_NOT_SUPPORT (3004)

Meaning : There are not present all the necessary files in the firmware that is attempting to flash

Possible solutions :

1) Try to download once again the firmware, the archive could be corrupted.
2) Try to download the firmware from another more reliable site.


ERROR 3012

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_DA_NAND_FLASH_NOT_FOUND (3012)

Meaning : This error occurs as a result of 2 different kinds of issues :

1) Issues to system fonts (see ERROR 3002)
2) issue at the USB port.

Possible solutions :

1) Replace the system fonts (see second solution in the ERROR 3002).
2) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
3) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
4) Try to press simultaneously "Volume +" and "Volume -" when connect your phone to your PC to flash.
5) Try to use a different computer.


ERROR 3013

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DS_SOC_CHECK_FAIL (3013)

Meaning :
When you try to flash a rom in which the Android version is older than the one currently installed on the phone.

Possible solutions :
Try to flash the rom identical to the version of Android on your phone, or a higher version.


ERROR 3036

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_DA_INVALID_RANGE (3036)

Meaning :
SP Flash Tool, before flashing the PMT block (Mapping Partition Table),
compares the addresses of the phone blocks to flash with the informations contained in the scatter file,
and found anomalies.

Possible solutions :
The PMT block is dynamically generated by SP Flash Tool itself, using the scatter file.
To be able to delete or overwrite the PMT block of a new scatter file,
at first you have to delete the PMT block already present on the phone that you want to flash.
To do so, open SP Flash Tool, click on "Format".
MAKE SURE that there is a blue sign on "Format whole flash except Bootloader".
Then, click on tab "Download" and flash the entire rom.


ERROR 3066

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DA_HANDSET_FAT_INFO_NOT_FOUND (3066)

Meaning :
This error is returned by the automatic format (default on SP Flash Tool) of your phone.

Possible solutions :
Open SP Flash Tool, click on tab "Format", select "Format Flash Manual",
then flash the desired partition.
WARNING: The operation that you are about to begin is not easy.
You will have to specify the "Region" (partition),
the "begin address" physical (in HEX = hexadecimal) and the "Format Length",
and the length of the partition (also in hexadecimal).
You can find this information in both the SP Flash Tool panel (in the "Downloads" tab).
And, above all, in the scatter file (I suggest you open the scatter file with Notepad ++).


ERROR 3140

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DA_UPDATE_BOOLOADER_EXIST_MAGIC_NOT_MATCHED (3140)

Meaning : During the flash process, SP Flash Tool came across a file in which the partition was not specified.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
2) Open SP Flash Tool, click on the "Format" tab, select "Auto Flash Format",
MAKE SURE that "Format whole flash except Bootloader" is selected,
then click "Start". Then, click on "Download" tab
and flash the firmware in "Download Only".


ERROR 3144

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DA_EMMC_FLASH_NOT_FOUND (3144)

Meaning : The scatter file is wrong. Let me explain it better :
The phone needs a flash by MTD, while in your scatter file is written EMMC.
Unfortunately, you can not replace EMMC with MTD,
otherwise you make completely unusable the scatter file.

Possible solutions :
With a little bit of luck, you can try to click on "Options" (in SP Flash Tool),
then click "Download". Finally check "From DL with checksum"
and try to flash the rom.


ERROR 3149

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_DA_SDMMC_WRITE_FAILED (3149)

Meaning : SP Flash Tool is not able to flash the firmware

Possible solutions :

1) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
2) Open SP Flash Tool, click on the "Format" tab, select "Auto Flash Format",
MAKE SURE that "Format whole flash except Bootloader" is selected,
then click "Start". Then, click on "Download" tab
and flash the firmware in "Download Only".
3) Try to flash a different firmware.
4) Try to replace USB cable.
5) Try to use a different computer.

ERROR 3168

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_CHIP_TYRE_NOT_MATCH (3168)

Meaning :
The informations inside the scatter files do not match those of your phone.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
2) Make sure that VCOM driver has installed on your pc.
3) Make sure that the firmware is compatible with your phone.


ERROR 3178

The full reporting as follows : BROM_ERROR_S_STORAGE_NOT_MATCH (3178)

Meaning :
The firmware you are trying to flash is incompatible with your phone.

Possible solutions : Flash a firmware compatible with your phone.


ERROR 3182

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_STORAGE_NOT_MATCH (3182)

Meaning : the same meaning of ERROR 3178.

Possible solutions : the same solution of ERROR 3178.


ERROR 4001

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_FT_DA_NO_RESPONSE

Meaning :
There IS a communication issue between SP Flash Tool and your phone.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
2) Try to replace USB cable.
3) Try to use a different computer.
4) Check that the battery power is not less than 30%.
5) Make sure that VCOM driver has installed on your pc.


ERROR 4004

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_FT_DA_INIT_SYNC_ERROR (4004)

Meaning : there is a problem with the drivers.

Possible solutions :
Try to uninstall and then reinstall the VCOM driver.

ERROR 4008

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_FT_DOWNLOAD_FAIL (4008)

Meaning :
This error is caused by the low power feed supplied by the USB port of your PC.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to change the USB port (preferably the back ports, if you have a desktop pc).
2) Try to disconnect any USB devices connected to your PC,
especially those that absorb significant power.
3) Check that the battery power is not less than 30%.
4) Try to replace the USB cable.
5) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.


ERROR 4010

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_FT_FORMAT_FAIL

Meaning :
The blocks map (in the scatter file) does not match the size of the phone partitions.

Possible solutions :

1) Try to use a newer version of SP Flash Tool.
2) Try to use a different firmware, more compatible with your phone.


ERROR 4017

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_FT_NAND_READLEN_NOT_ALIGNMENT (4017)

Meaning :
When you try to flash a file that is not designed to be flashed with SP Flash Tool,
this error is returned.

Possible solutions :
A possible solution, even though it is a pretty risky, could be the following:

1) Download "Checksum Generator" from the next link:

2) Copy "CheckSum_Gen.exe" and "FlashToolLib.dll" in the firmware folder.
3) If inside the firmware folder already contains a file named "Checksum.ini",
rename it to "Checksum.ini.old".
4) Click on the executable.
5) Download "MTK SP Multi Port Download Tool" from the next link:

6) Click on "SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe".
7) Click on "File", click on "Open File Download Agent", click on "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin".
8) Click on "Scatter File" and select the scatter files inside the firmware folder.
9) Put a check mark on "BootRom + Preloader COM Sel All".
10) Click on "Start All".


ERROR 4032

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032) [EMI] Enable DRAM fail

Meaning :
The firmware you are trying to flash is incompatible with your phone.
Otherwise, you have selected (in SP Flash Tool) the incorrect flash options.

Possible solutions :

1) Make sure that the firmware is compatible with your phone.
2) It is possible that you have installed the wrong drivers.
Remove all drivers (VCOM, ADB, Preloader and MTK) with the next software:

3) It is possible that SP Flash Tool content is damaged.

4) Try to press "Volume Down" while connect the phone to the PC with the USB cable.
Also try the combination keys "volume up", or "power" + "volume down", or "power" + "volume up".


ERROR 4058

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR: S_FT_GET_MEMORY_FAIL (4058)

Meaning :
SP Flash Tool is not able to identify one (or more) partition (partitions) during the flash process.

Possible solutions : Try to remove the checkmark from any element that is empty.


ERROR 5007

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR : S_FTHND_FILE_IS_NOT_LOADED_YET (5007)

Meaning :
You are trying to flash a file in which the path is not specified.
The file with the check mark is not found in the firmware folder.

Possible solutions :

1) Check that the scatter file is in the same directory as the other files.
I refer to the firmware folder.
2) Try to remove the checkmark from any element that is empty.


ERROR 5054

The full reporting as follows : BROM ERROR S_DL_GET_DRAM_SETTINGS_FAIL (5054)

Meaning :
The firmware you are trying to flash is incompatible with your phone.

Possible solutions :

1) Make sure that the firmware is compatible with your phone.
2) Open SP Flash Tool, click on tab "Format".
MAKE SURE that there is a blue sign on "Format whole flash except Bootloader".
Click on "Start" (blue arrow).
Then, click on tab "Download" and flash the firmware.
