I have tried to unpack the system.img with the next tools :
"Tools Unpack System" and "SuperR's Kitchen".
Now the unpacking process is perfect : I am able to unpack the system.img
i have the impression Cleopatra alreddy gave up on this phone , afther unpacking problems, i don`t understand i am a beginner and did unpack the system without any problem the first time i tryed. please Cleo come back and help us we need you`re assistance !!

ok thank Cleo, you for you`re reply, i do understand if you do not own this phone it will be almost be impossible to test things, a german guy on xda is ordering one this week and told us he will make a copy of the firmware before booting the phone and using it, i don`t know if this will make any difference?? and it wil be the 6 gig version ,so not the same as our 4 gig ram version, if i had the money i would send you a mix 2 for free, if this was the case i would not have ordered the vernee mix2 in the first place and i think the OnePlus 5T plus would be one of the best choices to make, unfortunatly to expensive for me . i hope that one day flashing this phone with a non currupted rom will be .possible, i did also hear that there are problems with the superuser and twrp some did follow you`re tutorial and ended up with a bricked phone ,i did use the mix 2 toolkit with magisk as root and works like a charm, did install twrp and xposed and everything is workng fine, i did also test Flashfire on this phone extensively and works without any problems and did restore my phone a few times with twrp and with flashfire, as it is rooted and have several backups i can alway`s restore my phone,and will leave it alone for now. i am no star in android modding but i manage with some help ,everything works fine on my mix 2 wifi gps and so on no problems at all, and can say for teh money it is suely a good phone, the hardware is ok ,but like more chinese clones the probelms are firmaware related unfortunatly the mis 2 has sometimes serious laggs.i also did discover a bug, when changing the phone to horizontal mode while watching youtube or tv app it sometimes freezes, you have good ideas about this phone but without owning one changes everything, Vernee should provide phones for free to devs like you

It should then say whether the BusyBox install was successful or not.
At this point, I'm able to achieve all that you've written (xposed etc...) with SuperSU, however, the BusyBox install from apk has been unsuccessful. I've tested rooted with Magisk as well and same result.

i have the same issue busybox does not install and was not succesfull ,it tryed it last week.
Good news for all Vernee mix2 owners thet does not have a bricked phone and want to relash they re phones with the original rebuilded factory readback firmware.
I took the risk and tested if i could reflash my good working Mix 2 with the latest V3 firmware and with latest corrected scatterfile (v5)
and it worked flawlessly. At this stage do not select and flash te bootloader !!!
For flashing use the DA_PL.bin mode!
