ZTE Axon 9 Pro and ZTE Axon 10 Pro
#1
Hello,

Can anyone confirm if either of these phones have RGB LED or just RG LED for notifications?

Also anyone know if ZTE is helping to get LineageOS working on any other phones, I know they did with the Axon 7 which was a pretty good phone.

Can anyone recommend a replacement phone for USA AT&T specifically that is better than the Axon 7?

Thanks

How much are you willing to spend? I'd consider a OnePlus 6. Will be a nice step up. I have Letv x722 with Snapdragon 821 and OnePlus 6 and there is a notable difference in power. You can get OnePlus 6 in the $450 range now.

Cheaper than that. OnePlus 6 now can have 8/128 for less than $400. Oneplus 7 about $500 on the cheapest I've seen.

I'd really like to get one with an SD card slot however.  That's why I have the ZTE Axon 7.  I looked at the oneplus and without a card slot that's a killer and unless it has an RGB LED it's also not worth it.  I would also like to run LineageOS on it, and that's another issue.

Any other suggestions?  Cost is a factor but the features are almost more important.

Thanks

For something a bit cheaper Oukitel just announced Y4800. Interesting phone [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] but almost guaranteed no lineage.

@derdat Also K9 from Oukitel but probably no lineage [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] and not sure how much of a step up (if any) from Axon 7 it will be. Good price though and huge battery waterdrop display 1080P

Hello,

I really like that Oukitel phone, however because mediatek I guarantee no Lineage since the devs always tell mediatek to take a flying leap because they charge for source code.

Too bad I can't find a better phone.  Most manufacturers aside from Samsung do one feature really well and skimp on all the rest.  Really a shame that they do this and a shame that the carriers here in the USA want the Samsung phones locked up so LineageOS can't be installed by encrypting the boot loaders.  One reason Mediatek is neat is they have a tool to write over the boot loader regardless.

I don't think it's anyone's business what software I have on the phone if I buy it outright.  It's the FCC's job to make it so we can have unlocked boot loaders.

Because of what happened with Cyanogenmod and the fact that they messed up so badly causing LineageOS to not go commercial that's terrible as it will just hurt LineageOS.  LineageOS could be as big as regular Android from Google if LineageOS went commercial because then they could have the paid devs working on it to make it better and if I could purchase a version for my phone I would do so.

Alas that's never going to be a thing, and the reason to use custom recovery and to use LineageOS is because it's better than current android offerings and because it allows me to backup everything instead of losing at least a percentage of my stuff.

Makes me miffed and sad too.

I wanted a OnePlus when it came out with Cyanogenmod but nope I don't want one now because it's missing the SD card slot which is important to me.

Oh well I made a sacrifice with the lack of a removable battery which is also an issue... I might just dump Android and go with the Pure Linux Phone Librem 5.

Yea, it is too bad so little development with MTK. They are mostly hack jobs and rarely better than the original ROM.

I also agree it isn't up to someone else to tell you what software you can put on your phone.

Well maybe have to give up something, either SD and get the OnePlus or Lineage and get the Oukitel Y4800. K9 also interesting. I love that Oukitel coming with American LTE.

What do you like about Lineage so much? It seems to me there's always some issues. Have you had a perfect Lineage before? I might try it on OP6. Thumbs Up

Hello,

Slow response, but I like LineageOS because it's fast and not locked down.  I've had a great experience with LineageOS.  Android in general though skips the most important thing that would make it a stellar mobile platform ( better than iOS ) if they figured out how to do backups and transfers properly and more like Apple where you don't lose out on data when you move from one device to another.  More hardware independent than anything.  The Oukitel K9 seems amazing, and if Oukitel helped make LinageOS work on the phone I would buy it.  One thing they skipped on?  USB 2.0 Type-C instead of 3.1 which really seems like an odd choice.  I wish the FCC would step up and say no to encrypted bootloaders, I would go back to Samsung if that were the case and I could have LineageOS.

I'm thinking about the Purism Librem5 phone in the future and telling Android to go away forever.  I think LineageOS would be better if they had a community version and a version you can get aka "pro" version where the pro version worked on more phone devices since it was more "commercial" and you get premium features that way like DD-WRT is for routers.

Anyhow it just sucks that all the phone manufacturers do really well on one or two features and skimp on all the rest.  Samsung is the exception to this though...
