[Question] Best shipping for the USA?
#1
So for my phone that is STILL on the way I chose DHL because they had the fastest eta....woops. It turns out DHL stopped doing deliveries in the USA about 5 years ago and they now transfer them to other carriers after they reach the nearest hub. I wish I'd known this before because my package got "forwarded for delivery" on the 17th and my tracking doesn't work on any other carriers, no updates from DHL. They also lied to me when I asked if USPS would be delivering it by telling me that local DHL franchise would be bringing it to my door.

The same guy said that my eta is the 22nd so if that holds true then it's a flat week for delivery. For future reference, is EMS any faster? It's been a while since I've used them.

Sorry for the rant but I also want to warn people in case there is a better option. Some quick Googles showed me way too many horror stories.

Have you tried calling DHL?

Yes, as I referenced in my OP, I called them and they just followed their M.O. by lying to me and not being any help.

The OP was quite vague regarding who you had spoken to, which is why I asked for clarification.

Have you tried calling again and talking to a different person? Perhaps let them know that you're having issues with tracking it with whichever carrier they forwarded it to.

In my experience, DHL has been flawless.

Oh sorry, I can see that looking back at it. No I haven't simply because I'm planning on going by the post office today. This is due to the fact that everything that friends who work for USPS have said was negative and I found , more or less, nothing but negativity online with no one reply in support of DHL. Also my friend who works at the sorting center said they haven't been getting DHL transfers for some time now so that leaves the post office. Its refreshing to hear that your experiences have been good though.

I think I'll go for EMS next time because they go straight to the USPS and and the postal service has always done right by me. They almost always deliver early too Smiling

People rarely take the time to write good reviews, but go well out of the way to rant or complain. Also, I'm quite sure USPS employees take joy in badmouthing DHL. Give DHL another call and see how it goes. Its the weekend as well, so staff is lower than the work week.

I hear ya, I work in sales so I know all to well how good things get bad mouthed, I just figured my first bad call was a bit of confirmation. True, they weren't trash talking though, just telling me experiences.

Anywho, I decided to call again after going by the PO and got better service this time. they said they couldn't get anyone to take my package so they are making a special delivery just for me from El Paso, TX to Roswell, NM.....wow, cool for me but no wonder they are going out of business in the US. I have to leave a note for the driver though because I'll be at work *shakes head*. Thankfully my work is only a few blocks away though so they can swing by.

When Khonshu shipped my phone, he used EMS. It seems like it took just over a week, though my memory of it (and most things for that matter) is vague at best. EMS does transfer to USPS. I experienced zero problems.

I realize this doesn't help with your DHL situation, but my summary is that I had no problem using EMS and wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future.

Just what I was hoping for, thanks! I wanted to say that I recalled them being quick but it was just too vague. Yeah the situation with DHL has been under control as much as possible, I was mainly wondering who the best carrier was for China to USA and hoping it would be EMS.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Since DHL only takes 3 days to get to me from china usually. Ive ordered 2 devices so far with DHL. Although the last device I ordered DHL gave me the wrong package but after calling I got it straighten out.

The DHL hub is about 30 mins away from where I live though. Ive never used EMS to receive a package. Although I did send one back USPS Express which used EMS. I think this is just a one off situation. DHL is usually pretty fast.
