Elephone have a 5.8" in production.
The P1000 will have a 2K display, snapdragon801 and a massive 3GB RAM.
Should excite alot of people looking for a bigger screen phone.
For me not really. Noob question?...Would a 2k display eat the battery, on these phones can you change the display settings to a lower res?
Super HD is wasted on a smartphone imo, I would only consider it in a tablet if for a child who uses it for games and streaming chromecast HD and movies.
I dont need 3GB or does anyone really need 3GB of RAM in a phone really, you can only multitask so many apps, surely 2GB is more than enough for anyone?
For me I am only looking for a 2GB version as opposed to 1GB as it would be smoother from witching apps and general usage?
I dont care about the screen res, good viewing angles is important though.
the redmi note is still top of my list for 5.3"+ phone

I agree 100% on the 2k screen and have been saying so forever. It's a battery sucking gimmick on a phone. 1080p is more than enough. On a 7"+ tablet I think it'd be great. 3gb ram is nice but not a necessity either. Any phone that is above 30k on Antutu is also more than enough, after that battery life becomes my main criteria. Other considerations way down the list.

5.5 inch FullHD 1080p
Dual Sim Dual Active (not standby, meaning both lines are always open)
sadly only 16GB and no SD card support.
of course no Octacore, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad.
Huawei Honor 6 LTE Dual Sim is probably too expensive, but would fit also,
has the Highsilicone Kirin CPU which is comparable to the Snapdragon 801
in 5 inch you have lots more choice, like the Xiaomi MI3 64GB, that should come in at around 300 USD as well, but only Single SIM if that matters for you.
there are many really interesting phones out right now, and many more to come in the near future.
I have the K910 and at $280 right now it's a steal. Pentaband 3g wcdma, dsfa and kitkat is available. I have kitkat 4.4.4 on my Nexus 7 2013 and can't tell the difference with my jelly bean on the K910. Many functions in kitkat are already incorporated on the K910 Lenovo software such as app permissions etc. The camera quality in hdr mode is superb though I don't buy phones for their cameras. Oh, and a 3050mah battery helps too.
I really like the Huawei honor 6 but when is the international model coming?
that lenvo k910 is a bargain now considering The VIBE Z2 is going to retail @ $780 LOL, they are not going to sell any at that price!
Do you guys have problems with the responsivness of the touchscreen? what put me off is the reviews of long term owners saying the touch screen is slow and have to press hard on the screen, ever experience this?

I've never had a problem with the touchscreen. I've never heard there was an issue.

"I've never had a problem with the touchscreen. I've never heard there was an issue."
ya on a page with over 300 posts in "user opinions and reviews" few people say the screen isnt as responsive as they like and the touch is slow, hard to press on screen.
alot say it gets quite warm the battery dies quicker than expected from a 3050batt.
Lots more than the negative is the positive comments praising the camera and phone in general though
I really want to pull the trigger this week as my doogee dg800 battery is shockingly bad.
5.5" to 6" phones that I like:
Redmi Note is abit chunky size wise!
The 1+One has me thinking about that now, as battery is good. top of price range id be willing to pay though.
Iocean x8 seems the best all round one really, smaller battery that cant be swapped though.
Kingzone K1 and coolpad F2 complete my choices I think.
Zenfone6 is only $200 though! and is the only 6" I like which was what i wanted.
The coolpad is out in a few days from one retailer BUT I think that website does'nt ship outside China.
Its great for the price of 999Y whats that like under $150?
"Coolpad F2 octa-coreMT6592, 2 GB of RAM memory, 16 GB space of internal storage, a 13-megapixel SOny main camera with F/2.0, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls, two SIM slots and support for 4G LTE high download speeds.
Cant understand the chinese advert on the website that sells them....but think there is a picture representing noise canceling function! and Coolpad have there own new UI.

right I was holding out so long for the coolpad f2 and got fed up of waiting, release date was september, the late october but still waiting on the FDD LTE release to go to resellers.
So i opted for a purchase of Umi Zero today.
running the 6592octacore clocking 2ghz, 2Gb RAM and 16Gb expandadable
(now its dual sim, BUT if you wish to expand storage you must give up one sim slot!)
Also NO 4G!
Pretty good camera in it the sony IMX214 F1.8, think it is the same as the oneplus camera and some other more expensive phones.
The screen is Samsung made super amoled with high ppi.
It has a fast charge component in it, so ill test that to see how handy it is, supposed to get 35% charge in 20minutes or something. battery is non-removable 2780mAh
Besides these nice specs, it is an impressive looking phone with both sides gorrila glass and full metal frame.
I got it for a good discount price, its is supposed to ship next week so should have it within 2 weeks, will report back
EDIT: oh ya its 5" screen....going against my title of the tread LOL
