Hi all,

I really hope that they ditch that 1830mah battery for a bigger one before launch. The battery is the only poor spec for this phone.

Hoping so too. Gizbeat says official specs show it as 1830mA.

Too much competition now IMHO. A year ago the iNew V3 was great spec wise. Nowadays there is tons to choose phone. Not enough thought went into this upgrade it looks like.

Still a very cool looking phone though.

The designers must have been forced to work with the same chassis as the original V3 to save some money on R&D. I have to admit that this phone looks really good. But it wouldn't look any worse if it was a bit fatter.

I think they should have sacrificed that overused 6.5mm thickness marketing claim for a bigger battery. 6.5mm thickness is not as good PR as it was a year ago.

This phone just came out of presale. Some retailers are selling it but nobody has received it yet. The units we are seeing are preview units only sent out to reviewers. You'll know how the phone performs once people like you and me start using it on a daily basis.

This phone is finally out but the battery is a big disappointment - it's a 1850 mah battery. Some reviewers claim that they can use it all day (12 hours) on a single charge but that's still not enough. Standby time is stated at 2-3 days but who buys a phone to keep it in standby all the time?!

Luckily some retailers like [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] deliver it with 2 batteries. I would confirm how many batteries will be shipped before making any purchase because it looks like you MUST have two batteries to use this phone when you can't charge it on the move.

In Gizbeat's review, he got 4.5 hours over 24 hours. Some of that time was talking on the phone and 45 minutes on 3G. The rest of the time on WiFi. Yea, if you've got the screen on more than 5 hours between charges, it's not going to be enough. Otherwise, no problem.

I can confirm that my V3A has not NFC. Battery life is around 1-1.5 days.

Yeah, the official website reported that it doesn't have NFC from the beginning. I have been waiting for someone who has actually used the phone to talk about its battery life.

How many screen on hours do you get in those 1-1.5 days and do you play 3D games or watch movies?

I just read the review - It's quite detailed but he did not play any 3D games during that time. According to him, the phone should last 12 hours with 5 hours screen on time doing ordinary stuff - what he does when the screen is on is web surfing over WI-FI and nothing much else. I'd like to know how the battery can perform with 3D gaming which needs the most energy.

Since the processor is clocked at 1.4GHz, it should consume the same amount of power as the original iNew V3 most of the time. That's because most android apps are optimized to use a maximum of 4 cores and the V3 plus processor has the same cortex A7 cores as the ones in the first V3. But with the new chipset (mt6592), there is one power-hungry addition that people might overlook: the GPU.

The mt6582 chip had mali 400MP2 but mt6592 has a Mali 450mp4. I'm thinking this GPU needs more power which could badly affect battery life for frequent gamers.

I agree with you, but this is fairly standard. 5 hours onscreen doing normal stuff.

If you need 5 hours gaming, definitely need some big battery phone or keep an extra battery charged. Just a guess... Should get 2-3 hours 3d gaming.

He's reviewing MPIE G7 now. That supposedly has a 3000mA battery but not sure I believe it.
