Chinese double din Android 4 car unit

Chinese double din Android 4 car unit turned out to be a totl disappointment.

i paid top dollars for the unit, and then paid to my professional installer $200 only to find out that CD/DVD and BT produce no sound. GPS does not work either. Radio works. Android can be launched. Advertised as ICS Cortex A8.

I am going to return it to the seller. Shipping to HK is going to be expensive, only to add to my losses. Oh well. Pioneers always end up w/the arrows in their backs

Speaking of Pioneer and other brand names, why they don't make any Android units? It is about as ideal car platform as I can imagine. And it is Open Source, so it won't cost them anything.

Guess the manufacturing+testing would send the price to the sky.

But it is inevitable.

Me thinks.

Before long all the head units will be Android-based.

But not yet.

Not really.

Others in my area charge even more. And it takes them forever. This one is pretty efficient, has an excellent reputation.

I used to work car stereo for a living. A standard deck pop shouldn't take more than 45 minutes. An easy one shouldn't take much more than 20 minutes. $40-60 an hour for labor and $30 for both the wiring harness and dash kit.

$200 is astronomical for a standard deck pop. But then again, maybe I don't know the whole story. If you needed any custom cutting/fitting, antennas, amp install, speaker wiring/install etc...Would add to it.
