Firmware upgrade...is it worth it?
#1
Hi folks,

It's a tad confusing what with all these firmware upgrades flying around...

When people are receiving their V3's are they not working very well hence having to upgrade the firmware as it seems to cause more problems than it fixes!

I'm rather worried about attempting any of the upgrades as my technical expertise in these areas range from nothing to barely managing to install an app...it's not that bad but bear in mind I was born in the era of Space Invaders,Pac Man and a certain game with two small white lines and a square shaped ball going back and forth.

Is it best to wait until Inew upload an upgrade onto their website?

i come from the same aera.. lol almost 38 years old.
if you do not have problems with your phone dont upgrade. never change a running system Big Grin

once an update comes out that fixes battery problems and such, wait until the adventurous have tried and see if its safe.
then you may want to upgrade. for now it seems its better to stay away from 1.0.7.

Ha,ha,@,gazeebo,the last few days we read here a lot of problems with the phones, so little joke is good. You are to me a little bit back to my childhood when I was playing ping pong on a black and white CRT TV against my friendSmiling
Sometimes need to be patient and use the rule,if something is good,do not touch it when there is no better and not 100% sure because after I be mad at yourself, if you've got some problems that not existed before updateWink

Great advice and exactly what I was thinking...

A few little blissful memories always keeps us smiling...now where did I put my Spectrum 48k and my cassette tapes.

It's better not to change anything for now.
I have this new version with inew_v3_1.0.1 fw and WCDMA 900/2100.
This is not old 1.0.1 and doesn't require immediate flash just to get some basic functions to work.
Everyone who have tried to upgrade that fw ended up with their iNew bricked.

I had some problems with GPS but managed to solve them without flash. Other problem is with short battery life but there is no help so rom upgrade is pointless.

You can root, install CWM, backup existing FW and wait patiently ... Wink
