I live in New Zealand and have the same problem.
I can only use Google Maps etc. when WIFI is turned on. If I try to use GPS alone it will not get a lock. The most satellites the phone has seen is one also.
I'd be interested to know if it is a regional issue or likely a faulty GPS chipset.

It never locks onto a signal and thus never finds my coordinates. Could it be a faulty GPS chip? Can you have a faulty GPS chip without any of the other chips being faulty because the phone works well apart from the GPS.

I had the same GPS issue.
What worked for me was to delete mtkgps.dat from data/misc as per this thread...

After reboot I was able to get a lock.

Hi all, finally found the solution to my problem thanks to user elsita. I did all the previous software fixes to no avail including deleting the mtkgps.dat etc. Then elsita alerted me that the thing on the back cover as well as being for NFC is actually the antenna for the GPS also! I gave the prongs on the phone which make contact with the antenna a little tweak and gave the back cover a little bend so that connections made contact. There is also a little clip next to the antenna, you have to give that a little push to make sure it clips in when you put the cover back on. Hope it helps you guys too.

Hello,
I'm having some issue with GPS too. There is no problem directly with having fix, device is locking faster that in 30 seconds. But after that when I am trying to use google maps(navigation in car), it i not possible. My location seems to act very chatotic, thinks I am moving when I am still on intersection, then after minute is immediately lose coverage. And it is going round and round the same. I have tried to fix a location for more that 10 minutes, leaving iNew on clear sky and have no luck.

We have exactly the same problem. I used both sygic and igo primo but with no luck. After 2 minutes from getting a lock and working properly, it suddenly loses signal and then misdirecting me all the time.
I need the gps while driving for my job but unfortunately i cannot rely on it, so i had to order a standalone gps device for the car.

Does anyone have any additional ideas?
So far as I am aware, A-GPS and EPO are both features that help to get a fast initial position fix. That is not my problem. The "GPS Test" app and Google Navigation have no trouble getting an initial fix when I am in my car. As soon as I start driving, however, my iNew V3 (which is excellent in every other respect) will lose my position about 50% of the time, rendering the GPS next to useless.
I have tried the tweaks provided by Mobile Uncle MTK Tools but these do not solve the problem of Google Navigation lsing my position while I am driving. Other Android phones in the car at the same time (HTC One and an old Samsung Galaxy S Captivate) have no problem maintaining a fix and constantly showing the car's correct position.
My firmware is 1.0.4. The phone is completely stock. So, my questions are:
- Does anyone (such as Damian Parsons - sorry I can't email or PM you, for some reason my account here won't allow it) have similar issues and what other solutions have been tried.
- Is there a custom ROM? Would this even help?
- Is it something to do with the baseband / radio ?
- Is it a firmware eproblem?
- What solutions has anyone had from the manufacturer iNew themselves?
Thank you.

Hello,
me has the same problems. The initial fix is fast with GPS Test. But if I start to use any Navigation App as Sygic or TomTom the location jumps.
Then I tried another GPS App. "GPS Status". There I don´t get a fast fix. There it takes a long time until I have a fix and it takes the same time as in "real" navigation Apps.
Btw. me tried it with stock 1.0.4 as also with GeekGirls kitKat Style Beta ROM. With both ROM´s I had the same behaviour.
Until now I have no solution for the problem.
As I understood in the discussions, the the NFC antenna is used also as GPS antenna? Then it may be there are conteact problms, as I mentioned in several programms that when I move the phone immediately the GPS signal strength goes down to zero.
I will investigate more deeper after the weeken.
Greetings,
MPC561

Update:
I tried the iNew V3 with an external bluetooth GPS receiver (TomTom MkII). The problem was exactly the same as with the V3's internal GPS. I also tried the TomTom MkII GPS receiver with my HTC One and it worked perfectly.
It is almost as if the GPS data from whatever source (an external GPS receiver of the V3's own GPS chip) is not being correctly received and processed.
