[Question] Partitioning of the internal memory
#11
(2013-12-04, 22:16)vonSchnoid Wrote: Sweet Googaly Moogaly!

Back in business! I got a new ROM from iNew with the correct partitioning (5GB for apps)!

Flashed it and restored my last backup and now everything is dandy... Big Grin

I guess i'll stick with the 5GB partition until something new comes up.
Not that i haven't learned a lot in the process on how things work though. Still missing knowledge on how the partitioning really works but i guess i have to continue searching. Cool

If anyone is interested i will publish the new ROM. It's 788MB so it's quite big. Here is the official naming: 20130911_e2006v20_v89_cxq2_fhd_inew.

It will be on Box and split in 4 files
Will post the link when the upload is done.

now u have a 5gb partition for the app. so if u flash a card flash rom without a lk.bin, then after finish installing, then u should have 5 gb space for the app, to flash a rom to yr phone will not change the partition

Hi vonSchnoid.

Can you give me advice how you installed new Inew ROM? Via SP Multiport? If yes, can you decribe step by step how you did it? I red a manual reg SPMultiport tool, but I was not success :-(

Thx a lot, T.

Look in my former post, there is a link to the ROM. It should work for you. It's four (4) zip-files. Just d/l into same folder and unpack. Then SP Flash it.

Edit:

A word of caution! This ROM seems very incomplete. A lot of functions are missing. Example is Camera. Use this only if you need to restore the partitioning scheme.
Then restore a backup instead. This works for me.

I use the MTK SP flashtool (SP Flash_Tool_v3.1328.0.183). You can find it here on the site under the General area - MTK Tools

You need to have all the necessary drivers installed, also explained under other sections.

So for the actual flash:

- d/l and unpack the rar-file with the 'New' ROM.
- Start SP Tool and click on the buttom for the scatter file. Navigate to the unpacked folder and open the scatter file. It should be the only one visible (apart from a folder)
- Deselect the 'Recovery' option if you have a custom recovery otherwise it will be overwritten!
- Click the d/l button and click 'OK' when it says it's missing some images
- Shutdown and remove the battery (if you haven't already done it). Also remove any SD card you have installed (just to be safe!)
- Connect the USB cable. SP Tool should now detect the phone and start the d/l. It will at first be a red staple which says 100%. Then a violet one and finally a yellow. The latter take some time to d/l.
- When everything is done a window with a green circle appears.
- Remove the USB cable and insert the battery and any SD cards again and reboot.

A word of caution: This ROM is incomplete! It has some serious issues with a lot of things. As it is now it's only good for the re-partitioning. I would recommend you d/l and use the 'Old' ROM published on iNew website. Do this:

- In SP Tools, when you have loaded the scatter file from the 'old' ROM, click on each of the ERB files (ERB & ERB2) and navigate to the 'New' ROM and select the respective ERB file from there. This will flash the 'old' ROM with the new partitioning scheme. The 'old' ROM only has 1GB of app-storage!

- Also! If you have a 2/32GB model you need to use the scatterfile from the 'New' ROM or you will get an error. The scatterfile in the 'Old' ROM can also be modified:

Find the line which says: __NODL_FAT 0x7e580000
Change it to: __NODL_FAT 0x196180000

Now the scatterfile is correct for the 2/32GB variant and the flash will work OK.

After this is done you can restore any CWM backup you have made and still enjoy your new increased app-storage (5GB). It's a cumbersome way of doing it but it works!

I hope you understands what to do!?

Hello.

Thank you for manual ;-). If the new ROM is not OK, I will stay with Zoppo/Nexus ROM. I am quite satisfy with it. I just was a curious how new ROM works. ;-)

Have a nice weekend, Tomas.
