[ROM] Wind Customized RTM 4.2.1 HDR / Touchwiz / Viper4 / Transparent status bar
#1
Just when you though it was safe to sleep.

Not only did Mr. Wind remove the bloat and added pre-root, he's spent the day customizing further.

It's an SD Update. This is the tried and true Gizbeat recommended method. Those of you who know what you're doing can pick and choose as you please (eg, flash the proper recoveries etc... and update over the current ROM you're on), however please report what didn't work so we can save other users some time.

Wind RTA 4.2.1 Customized Features
• Streamlined to Wind preferences
• HDR Stock Camera
• Viper4 Sound Management
• Samsung Touchwiz Interface
• Integrated Google Input Method (?)
• Lock-Screen Weather Plug-In (configure first)
• 50% transparent status bar
• Battery icon shows %

It looks very good so far. Obviously with root, you can remove anything you don't like. I don't have much use for the weather functionality. As well I changed to Nova launcher but Touchwiz is butter too.

What to do
1. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] ([Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]) and copy it to your SD card
2. Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] and follow the tutorial there. This will give you a "base" to update from
3, Boot into recovery
4. Select install update from SD
5. Navigate to the update ROM from step 1 and select
6. Wipe Dalvik, wipe cache, format internal storage and reboot

Okay, enjoy! That's it for me for today - 10+ hours in and it's time to kick back.

Hi Gizbeat,

my 4.1 Wind ROM works good so far, but GPS isnt stable like stock ROM.
Statusbar is only in stock launcher full 50% transparent. With some other apps it looks grey ;)
Is it possible to edit the statusbar in framwork in new 4.2 Wind ROM? i want make full transparent, also for apex launcher?

best regards, chris

My GPS hasn't been so hot. Stock ROM or not. Initially with stock ROM, I had to leave it outside for 10 minutes to get a lock. After the initial lock, it would lock fine for awhile though. Some people have no problem, getting a lock within seconds always. This is one area MTK really needs to work on. My Qualcomm S4 locks on no problem within seconds every time.

Yea, the Wind status bar turns grey a lot. Usually when there's any sort of greyish background. It seems to happen with any launcher I've used (Nova / ADW). I've learned to just live with it.

You mean you want to make the statusbar background 100% transparent, am I reading that right? I'm sure there's a way to edit the framework. Wind comes by this board sometimes, maybe we can request a full transparent status bar.

GPS was with Stock ROM more stable, Fix after 10 seconds with generated gps.conf ;)
With Wind ROM sometimes i have Fix after minutes, and accuracy is not so good ...

I hope Wind is reading this thread. Yes, i want full transparent statusbar. I think its not possible with "uot kitchen"? I tried this with my ZP900S and sometimes before with ZP100, not working ...

I have never tried to edit the framework-res.apk myself, did you?

Wind didn't modify any GPS settings. Perhaps the problem is with the new 4.2.1, but as I said, stock 4.1.2 was no better for me. If anything, it was worse.

As it is now, I get an initial cold lock within 2 minutes. After that first lock it will lock within 1-4 seconds.

I haven't delved into editing the framework. If you get in there and have some success, let's have a tutorial.

Ahh. The Germans are coming!

mmm... Here's your keyboard Pontari. Nobody's quite sure if it's a port or copy, but it works perfect. Swipe and all.

He also is the same guy (Honso) who does Multiling Keyboard which is the keyboard I've used for a couple years now.

For me the DLs are ridiculously fast, often reaching 800Kb/s. How slow is slow? Have had people complaining about it, but then an hour later they've got the ROM installed.

Regardless, please drop me a PM with the dropbox link so I can add the mirror for EU peoples.
