Entering recovery for the Zenfone 2 is very similar to MTK devices. The recovery itself you will be very used to, but there's also a mode called "fastboot" for Asus Zenfone 2. This is an area where you can flash the phone with various ROM parts.
To enter recovery on the Asus Zenfone 2, press and hold VolUp + Power. Directly after phone vibrates, release power but continue holding VolUp. After the fastboot screen comes up, release Vol.
For some it's been difficult entering fastboot area. If this is the case for you, you can enter it through adb.
