I have an Alps MTK6582 N9000 709_v82_jbla828

Need Rom has one for an Alps, in fact they have 3 but none of them will work. I have a Rom now that sort of works but will not allow me to use my camera and says that the imei is invalid even after I edit it with MTKDroid tools.

So what I really need is a correct ROM for the above but so far have not found one that really works. The one I have now is the only one that I found that will even boot in the phone. The others load but the the phone is dead afterwards.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks

Bob
For your IMEI, you will need to be rooted to use MTK Droid Tool. Are you rooted?

For your camera, the easiest fix for that is to find the correct ROM for your phone.

I am rooted and the MTK Droid tool has been used to correct the IMEI but after re-booting it reverted right back to invalid. I also am aware that I need the correct ROM for my phone which was the purpose of my post. I have tried the ones advertised on Need Rom and none of the 3 of them will work. My phone will take the flash but remains dead (not even a charge) afterwards. The Rom I have seems to be the right one according to the description but too many things are amiss with it along with it looks nothing like my stock ROM. So I am still looking. I also met another poster on another forum that has the same exact symptoms that I have because of flashing the only ROM that he could get to boot. Sad

THanks much

Bob
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but highly recommend buying a known model (not a clone or generic phone) from a reputable seller. The thing is, beyond your dilemma at the moment, no developer will spend time making a decent ROM for a phone like this anyways.

For IMEI, I suppose you tried the AT command method...Try this tool too. If it fails, it likely means you need nvram.bin and .tar for your model phone. You can try random mt6582 nvram you find on the net too and hope you get lucky.

Thanks for the input I have found the new ROM that works. It is also an upgrade from Jelly Bean to Lolipop. So it uses Android 5.1.0 instead of 4.2.2.
I have already decided to drop the clones and get a brand name next time this has been too much of a hassle.

As it turns out Alps is not that unknown. Once I asked the right question I found plenty of ROMs. Instead of asking for a ROM for an Alps MTK6582 I asked for a Rom for an Alps 709_v82_jbla828 (which is the model number) I got more ROMs than I knew what do to with I think I downloaded at least 4 of them before I stopped and selected one. You are right though because I have another "Unknown" phone that I have given up trying to find a ROM for. I have four phones BTW. Smiling I love cell phones. Actually one of them is a Samsung C3 with a WIFI that does not work so I have plenty to keep my busy.

THis fixed the IMEI problem but not the main camera problem. I guess that may be hardware after all because I have flashed several ROMs on this phone and the main camera still cannot be selected although the "selfie" camera works fine. So I still have that problem although the performance of the phone is improved quite a bit.

Thanks

Bob
Yes there are a lot of alps. I didn't mean to say it's unknown. They're used in many clones.

Well at least you got your IMEI back. That's good news. Hopefully will find the right one for the camera eventually.

Could also be that the camera is having a hardware issue, though unlikely if it not working coincided with the ROM change.

Yeah the camera worked fine until the phone was bricked. After that it never worked again. I have heard others with this issue also. I doubt I will ever find the exactly "correct" rom, until I do I will be satisfied with this one because it hardly uses any power and is very fast when I use it. But I need to get the camera fixed. I will keep searching although not so feverishly. Smiling

Nope the camera app did not work either. I also tested and additional one from your post and neither of them worked. Maybe this is a hardware issue.

The other app your showed me worked. At least it proved that my IMEI numbers are correct and I see how I could change them that is a handy app for a tinkerer. Smiling

THanks
