Updated to the latest OTA, its encrypted by default. Same like Nexus :/ Might be previous versions were also encrypted, I didn't notice.

I recently saw some announcement from Google pushing how important they viewed encryption as being. On one end, it is processor intensive. On the other, it's a huge step towards securing your valuable data.

How much does it affect your performance? Have you noticed?

Doesn't seem to affect performance at all. The system is very quick. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but I believe it's decrypted at boot, not in a constant state of decrypting on the fly.

Nexus 6 came encrypted by default. Need to install a special decrypted ROM to have a decrypted system. Same here, even if doing a factory reset, it's automatically encrypted.

I'd just like to have the choice. I don't like being forced
