Hey guys

Hey guys

Basically I ordered the phone from the European Warehouse of Gearbest and it arrived via DHL courier a few days later.

As soon as I got it I turned it on and I thought something was strange cause the language options only had Chinese, English UK and English US when I know for a fact the default Chinese ROM has dozens of languages (two of my friends have the exact same phone bought from gearbest as well) then when I went to chose the location again another weird thing, there were no European countries to chose from, no US or Canada either, just African, Asian, Middle Eastern and South American countries. Which again shouldn't be like this and while I was looking at the countries available it crashed, black screen.

And from that moment on it never turned on again, no led charging light nothing, it was totally hard bricked.

After doing a lot of research, I came to the conclusion that Gearbest probably flashes phones that are sold in the European Warehouse with a global or European ROM, and they remove the default Chinese ROM.

Well clearly the idiot who did mine did a badjob and didn't even test it or if he did didn't care.

72 hours still no reply from Gearbest from my 3 messages, I know it's the Chinese new year but I'm still totally pissed.

Does anyone know what ROM Gearbest uses? I've been trying to flash a new ROM using SP Flash Tools, but i keep getting ENABLE DRAM FAIL error everytime!

Please help!

Thanks!
You were looking through the countries and it just shut down and bricked itself? This is very curious, have never heard anything like it.

No China shop will reply to you now, they're all on holiday for 2 weeks.

While there are official global ROM available with multiple languages, they are only available for models that have been "officially" released outside China.

There is no Gearbest ROM. Generally, no shop flashes phones. They are a middle man, but Xiaomi does provide some phones with ROM that have multiple languages on them. I've never seen them available for download though.

The Xiaomi Note 3 is also coming with a locked bootloader according to admin here.

You're not able to enter recovery?
Heya thanks for your reply

I can't enter recovery no, phone doesn't turn on and no led charging light, it's properly hard bricked
According to the sales page, they should be coming with multi-language, though as the OP surmised, it's likely some sort of custom ROM (from Xiaomi or the supplier of Xiaomi to Gearbest, not Gearbest themselves) some of them may be coming with.

Mine came with CN/EN only, and it could be that the early ones shipped to EU warehouse also only had CN/EN. Did your friends receive from EU warehouse too?

If it really just shut down out of the blue and shows no signs of life anymore, that is not a good sign. That sounds like something with hardware, not software (though I've been wrong on occasion).

If by chance it was due to you trying to flash another ROM (not saying it was, just saying *if*), then there's more of a chance of recovery.
Heya thanks for the reply

My friends ordered from Chinese warehouse not the European one.

Also a day later when I was trying to flash roms it turned on again, but once again crashed hard when trying to chose the location.

I've been reading online and the reason I can't flash it and keep getting the enable dram error is because the preloader I'm using doesn't match the one on the phone, so im convinced it's a software issue, if I could flash a default rom I think it would work, but I keep getting enable dram fail with every single ROM I try to flash
Okay, I was unaware of the situation that you'd been able to turn it on at some point. Obviously if that's the case, then there is some hope.

Due to the bootloader being locked, messing with preloader can get you hard bricked (it's usually best to not flash preloader regardless). You claim that's not what happened, so we'll take you at your word there.

If you happen to get it on again, just leave location alone is my first piece of advice. That won't change language anyways (I assume you mean locale in time & date settings, yes?). Just leave that alone for now so you can at least have a working phone to boot into recovery and such.

If you can get it booted again, I would attempt a boot into recovery through adb and then flash the latest CN/EN Note 3 ROM through recovery. That is, if you can get it alive again. Whatever you do, don't go messing with whatever caused the problem in the first place.

You can also try SP Flash Tool with preloader unchecked and using "download" option.
Thanks Gizbeat

Yeah, it's exactly that, when I was trying to chose the locale twice it had a major crash and wouldnt turn on again.

I'm definately going to leave it on and not touch it if it ever comes back alive again, thats for sure! and try to reach recovery mode.

I have been trying to flash with SP Flash Tools, that the exact problem, every time I try to flash with SP Flash Tools (i've tried many different versions of that program and many different ROMS) i always get the same error message Enable DRAM Fail.

Its driving me nuts!
Hey guys

Does anyone have a copy of the md5 file or full back up of the Redmi Note 3?

I think i might be able to fix my problem with that copy.

Thank you
Thanks for your help in advance!

As you can see from the attached, the error I keep getting is the 4032. I've tried flashing different ROM's, using different versions of SP flash tool (tried 1516, 1532 and 1548) but the error I keep getting is the same. From the screenshot I am trying 'Download Only', but I've also tried 'Firmware Upgrade' and 'Format All + Download'.

I've tried on 2 different computers - both running Win7. I've installed the drivers many times (from various different zip/exe files), by following the uninstall through USBDeview and reinstalling (also tried adding legacy hardware on Device Manager). My PC recognises the phone as a MTK USB Port (and not as Preloader USB VCOM or DA USB as I've seen in other situations - could this be the issue?)

Once plugged to USB, if I don't do anything it automatically connects and disconnects, non-stop (keep hearing the connect/disconnect sound on Windows).

Let me know if you have any ideas for this!

Hey guys

So once again I keep having problems with trying to flash the phone as I keep getting ENABLE DRAM FAILED. Yesterday I was looking closely at my Device Manager in Windows 7 and only once in a while would I get under the Com Drivers DA USB VCOM Port showing up (Only in Device Manager)

So then I started looking at SPFlash Tools and I used Version 1516, 1520 and 1532

But as you can see in the picture below

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

In the bottom right corner I only having showing up MTK USB Port no matter what I do, and even when under device manager in windows DA USB VCOM Port would show, i would still get the same error.

I have read and seen that for the flashing to work in the bottom right it has to say DA USB VCOM Port

like this picture

But I can never get it to work!

Can anyone help me and tell me what I am doing wrong?

I have installed all the drivers:

VCOM Driver MTK v1.0.14.exe

I have added the drivers manually with windows 7 by using device manager and "add legacy hardware"

I have removed all previous drivers and tried this many times.

Any help would be great. Thanks!
