McAfee offers to unlock iPhone for FBI

Anti-virus creator John McAfee has claimed he can break the encryption on an iPhone that belonged to San Bernardino killer Syed Farook.

If it was THAT difficult and important to get the data, they would simply have handed the device to the NSA.

Truthfully, this sounds like an agency attempting a "hardware double back". That is an internal term whereby the use of a compromised piece of equipment is encouraged by feigning its unassailable security (best done best both loudly and publicly) when, in fact, the opposite is true.
Not sure, but this seems a good out for Apple if FBI really needs assistance and McAfee really able to help.
