The first 10 hours with the Leagoo M5 were not all pleasant, with no less than 4 Leagoo M5 brick during this time period.

The first MTK6580A Leagoo M5 brick happened when installing an OTA. The download of the Leagoo M5 OTA went fine, as did the install... However, after the Leagoo M5 rebooted and showed 1 of 1 app updating, then rebooted and stayed stuck on the logo. Typical signs of a Leagoo M5 brick. A soft brick, but a brick none the less.

Upon entering recovery, and doing a factory reset, the M5 then rebooted fine. Checking out the phone info showed the ROM build finished with the word "TEST".

Forging on, we also found the Leagoo M5 bricked itself when changing themes. We're not the only user to discover this issue, as user mrweb012 also has reported the exact same issue of the Leagoo M5 bricking itself while using the theme change button or the Theme Club button.

Hold fast. Hold steady. Do not waiver young warrior. And so it was that we continued on. The phone bricked itself for a 3rd time after we manually entering a powersaver mode (not through system settings. there's an actual button that puts it into a Leagoo powersave mode), which only gave access to several options. Finding no way to exit this mode (we tried it all, if anyone has a tip, please reply here), we hit the power button and did a reboot of the Leagoo M5.... At which point, guess what... It then bricked itself again.

Continuing on, we installed Apex Launcher, which is excellent BTW. Then we rebooted again...To find out... Another self brick.

Note that in all of these cases, it's impossible to tell whether these were the actual causes of the bricks, or simply correlational.

At this point, the phone was going in the bin (trash can), or we were going to give it one more go with an older OS.

Thankfully, since installing this OS there have been zero Leagoo MT6580A bricks. We went through all of the correlational steps that may have caused the previous bricks and none of them caused a brick with the new ROM.

So, in short... The solution as we know it at this point to Leagoo bricks on the M5 is to revert to this ROM.

Interestingly, this ROM doesn't offer any OTA. Says we're up to date.... So for now we'll just stick with this one, though it's a bit older than the latest, it seems to work very well so far, with none of the issues of the newer ROM./

I invite other Leagoo M5 users to share their bricking experiences here and to confirm or deny the issue, or to post ways they solved the bricks.
Hi friend, today I received my m5, and in the first hour it brick when I tried to change the theme.
Now I cannot start the phone, it gets stuck on the Leago first screen. I tried to enter recovery mode but after select recover I get "No command." message.

Very disapointed with this phone. I will try to get a refund.

I bricked the MT6580A Leagoo M5 doing same thing (changing theme). I recommend you give my solution a try before returning for refund... The phone hardware is great for the price. The external speaker is outstanding given the price point....Far better than some phones I've reviewed at more than 2x the cost... The display, same...Great display considering the cost of the phone.

I was able to get into recovery to factory reset. Still, that doesn't solve the problem of Leagoo M5 bricking...At least in my case, it bricked 4x in 10 hours.

How did I solve the Leagoo M5 bricking? I flashed to an older M5 ROM. It hasn't bricked at all since, and I performed all the scenarios where it had previously bricked on the newer ROM.

Downgrade download Leagoo M5 ROM: http://www.needrom.com/download/leagoo-m5/

After downgrading, I received no OTA update. The ROM the Leagoo M5 is coming on now is some beta... It said "test" at the end of the newer ROM version.
