Leagoo has released a new 20160909 Leagoo M5 ROM. We've upgraded to it and none of the previous correlational actions caused any bricks.

Notably fixed is the MT6580A Leagoo M5 theme change button brick which several other users experienced.

They've also fixed the issue regarding being no exit from extreme powersave mode.

Great news. Thanks Leagoo for the update.

Hi, where can I download the latest firmware? Thanks...
Hi Giz
I've been following your posts on the Leagoo M5 with great interest and mostly understood it! I have a Leagoo in infinite bootloop.
Any chance of an idiots' guide to how to unbrick it? where to get the rom, how to install it...? Appreciate your posts in any case..

Hello @"petercoc", the bootloop also happened to me. (On late July and August ROMs) To stop it, hold the Power button for 10 seconds and it should power down.

To fix it, I recommend flashing the latest Leagoo M5 ROM. There have been several mishaps in getting the latest ROM uploaded. I'll try to get it up at some point today.
@hbrlek

In the meantime, you can hold VolUp+Power until you see the Leagoo logo...after about 3 seconds of seeing the logo, release Power, but keep holding VolUp. This should being you to recovery where you can reset. If it brings to a screen that just sits there, press (don't hold) all of the physical buttons intermittenly in different ways until it shows recovery. I know it sounds funny, but unless you press buttons it may just stay on a frozen screen.

Optionally you can flash the older ROM if can't wait for the new one to be up.
ROM added

1. Download both of these

2. Extract them both and put them all in one folder (one has system.img, the other has the rest of the files)

3. Use SP Tool to flash to flash. I used "Firmware Update" which formats the eMMC. I did not lose IMEI.

If any questions or problems, please ask.

Unfortunately, no. You'll need to root, remove the old YouTube and then install latest.
