I have a China tablet and now a China phone. Both have performed very well but the only problem is I also like to play with custom ROM with many different functions added. And seems both device lacking of custom ROM.
So for my next device, the most important is to have many Dev support. And company that worked together with Dev such as Oppo.

Well I've had my THL W8+ for about a month now. I love it and cant help smiling when I see people getting out their over priced conventional phones. I don't know what my next China phone will be, I just know that there will be a next one.
Xiaomi is a china phone, but specs and build wise, it is already as good as those big name brands. Same with Huawei. I would say that these are mainstream China phone brands.
Now, which are the good and lesser-known brands?
A friend of mine just got a Star s5 and it is a brilliant phone so I have ordered one for myself. If all goes well with this phone I will probably get a fhd phone next time, don't know what "brands" are the best but I'll work it out.
