Make sure that the device manager is open when you connect your phone without the battery. Keep the mouse close and as soon as the MTKXXX preloader appears, double-click on it (quickly before it disappears) to get its properties and then go to "update driver" software then install drivers you downloaded earlier.
The drivers will install correctly even if the device disappears from device manager because you have the device properties. Once the drivers are properly installed, you should be able to use SPFT to install your ROM.
