US man held for sending flashing tweet to epileptic writer

"Let's see if he dies," the suspect wrote in a Twitter message to another user, investigators say.

The saddest part of this, personally, is that someone could potentially get 10 years for sending a "tweet".

That type of overreaction encourages physical confrontations over harmless verbal or visual confrontations. For example, simple assault is typically 6 months to 1 year.

To wit, why would a potential assailant choose non-violence when the penalty for an actual attack is much less?
