While quite a few mobiles have switched over to faster than 5V 2A charging, the Redmi series has been content to stick with it.

Given the outstanding battery life of the Redmi Note 4X (14 hours 720P WiFi YouTube video playback!), this is no problem, and actually is double the charging rate of what some similarly priced mobiles are charging at; yes, some sub-$160 mobiles are still charging at 5V 1A.

The faster and harder we pump juice into a battery, the shorter the longevity of a battery. The added benefit to this rate is that the life of the battery is extended in comparison to 9V and 12V charging. We're not talking night and day here, and generally, users are switching out their mobiles every year or two, so again, not a huge deal. But, it still bears mentioning.

The 4000mAh Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X charges to 90% in about 2 hours, and fully in about 2.5.

Check out the smoothness of the charging arc. A very stable charge.

What I find interesting is that Xiaomi actually had the forethought to reduce the thickness of the Redmi Note 4X. While some manufacturers may have just used the same battery as Redmi 4, the Redmi Note 4X is noticeably thinner than Redmi 4.
