These 4 shots present a nice size comparison between 2 good-looking, higher priced ($300+) MTK6589 China phones.

The TCL Y900 is 5" and the Gionee GN708W is 4.5". Despite 1/2" sounding like not much, when actually comparing them side by side, it presents something to consider when deciding on a phone size.

The TCL Y900 and P600, even though they were touted as being the first MTK6589 phones released are still barely a rumor. Most sellers have them as shipping within 60 days, and the TCL Y900 isn't even available for presale.

The Gionee GN708W however is nearly out the door and may even be available for shipping now from some merchants.

Yup. This is actually a built in feature to Android 4.0 and up. They can be enabled quite easily manually within build prop. (See tutorial link)
thanks
