I live in an under developed country with limited cell phone coverage. I use a THL T6s and a Bluboo Maya that permits two providers simultaneously. One WCDMA and one GSM. GSM is being phased out so eventually only one sim will work. This will increase the gaps in cellphone coverage on journeys where there is an either or arrangement at the moment unless I stop and reconfigure the phone. This is very significant. There might be more cell phone equipment under Auckland City motorway bridges than in use between Kumara and Otira which is more than a half hours drive. Having two providers at once will require the use of two of the existing phones.
Is the THL T9 pro with MTK 6737 able to give G3, G4 on the sim slots to have both systems on standby when GSM is gone?
I would say probably not. Probably only 2G in one SIM, but not sure.
Thanks for the reply Bacon_Puffs. I suspect that you are correct.

I will answer this for myself and the community in a little while with regard to:

I have bought 2 of THL T9 Plus. A slightly better camera than the pro. These are discontinued very plastic but should be practical for my purposes. New Zealand GSM frequencies will remain probably beyond 2020 which is a long enough life for a $100 phone. A new tower was commissioned only a year ago near my house with GSM G2 but of course that equipment may have come from Nigeria and be worth sixpence to replace.
My old phone was killed by me. I rolled on top of it underneath a car. The wife's one is still fully functional. These were Bluboo Maya. Also bought as a superseded model with some issues that were not ironed out before development was halted due to obsolescence. Truly disgusting audio out but otherwise a great performer.
I will agree with anyone who pays $1000 for a phone because the potential to utilize and enjoy is definitely in it for them. I did not cry when I realized that my good old Maya died with now cryptic half display. It will R I P in a box with other used phones some of which still work well and can be used and left at the beach under a towel or even on top of a towel because of they are not shiny any more.

Enjoy your Xmas safely
Cheers
Graeme
Merry Christmas Graeme,

Right, if 2G sticking around until 2020 then should get it's $100 of use. Not many know of THL these days. One of the better brands and hope we see a resurgence. Looks like the last models they produced were the T9 and Knight. Seems they either couldn't or didn't want to compete with all this viral smoke and mirrors. They've always been that way though - just chugging along. Hope the train hasn't stopped.

You're right about the $1000 phones. Nice to have something that dropped, stolen etc...not such a huge loss.
It is as suggested:  Either S I M can be G4   but it is OR.  So typical disingenuous Business Ethics hides this truth from us.  The second S I M runs as G2 while the (nominated video setting) first is G3 or 4 and in the back woods G2 as well.
No matter the phones are an acceptable upgrade from the BluBoo.  Speech quality is better without apparent sharp tones emphasis, the video performance allows video streaming from my satellite box over the internet and only the Free Touch App is unworkable so far.
The front camera is Xmas Cracker disgusting but the finger print sensor is lovely to use.
For the price it has got to be good and there is no needs for the return to base warrantee.  It is throw away price with the old Ts6 (camera fault), W100 (insufficient ram to satisfy Google), BluBoo Maya and LG p500 etc as spares in the drawer.

I am not ever going to need performance to play games but the GPS and WiFi and Network wireless performance seems good which is what the phones will do while they last.

The Life Manager Lady Boss Person is saying that when a new cover arrives she would like to try her new THL changed over from her BluBoo.  Take it from me that here we have a significant endorsement.
