Hello to the community,

after bricking my new phone I hope, someone is still alive in this part of the arena.

What has happened:
I am since about six month the owner of a LeEco LeTV Le2 (X527 – Snapdragon Version) on which I installed TWRP and a quite pretty running RR Custom ROM.
Because one of my best friends was thrilled by this device, I decided to surprise her with another one for her birthday.
When the new device arrived, I did not recognize, that it is a different version. The new one is a LeEco LeTV Le3 (X626 – MTK Helio X20 Version). Externally, there are no differences between the devices. They look exactly the same.
Without noticing the different inner workings, I tried to boot on the new device in TWRP, using the “fastboot boot” command. I thought it would be safe because I didn't want to flash the recovery permanently before I could make a backup of the factory software.
The information displayed during the boot process still looked normal (ok-messages), but the TWRP interface was not opened and the device stopped responding to inputs and keystrokes. When I disconnected the USB cable from the PC, the screen turned black. The only direct sign of life is the red LED when I connect the device to the charger or PC. The LED then lights up permanently red.
The PC alternately shows that an MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM (Android) or a MediaTek USB Port has been connected. The usual connected/disconnected tone sounds.
That means, I hear the connected sound, see the message Preloader has been started, hear the disconnected sound, see the message device has been disconnected, hear the connected sound, see the message USB Port has been started, hear the disconnected sound, see the message device has been disconnected, and the same turn starts again – endlessly, until I pull the cable.

I found some tipps on xda and needrom and tried to flash a stock ROM via SP FlashTool, using a MT6797 scatter.txt file designed for a X620 version. The device is detected, but the flash process is always aborted with error messages when setting Download only and Firmware Upgrade. I didn't try it out the Format adjustment, because I didn't have the courage to do it. And I have to admit, that I don’t know what I’m doing.
I’ve looked around for a long time, but I did not find especially ROMS and/or scatter.txt files for X626 Version.

So if anybody takes an eye on this posting and has an idea, your’re welcome to help a stupid little girl saving a birthday gift for a very dear friend …
Thank you very much in advance,

Sam
You're right, it is very strange that the phone got bricked from that procedure.

Have you tried holding volume up or volume down when connecting the phone to the PC for flashing?

Hello DirkNirK,

thank you for your reply.

It is a big problem that the device's display does not respond to any keystrokes. I've tried a lot of things - long push, short push, in all the combinations I've come up with - but it's always dark. Black. Definitely off.

Therefore, I can't see if the device starts after pressing the corresponding key combination in the bootloader menu (and if so, which line is activated there). I have not yet been able to access the device via fastboot.

But I could find out that the device responds to keystrokes with the SP-Flash-Tool, because if the device is switched on no download takes place. If I notice this, interrupt the connection, switch off the device - blindly -, restart the download and reconnect the device, a short download takes place (a red bar runs once or twice from left to right in the lower part of the tool). The download will then be aborted. The ROM and/or scatterfile I use is probably unsuitable (however, in the forums everywhere it is said that X620 ROMs should also work on the X626, because it is supposed to be just a regional differentiation). I have never been able to find via SP-Flashtool flashable ROMs or scatterfiles especially for the X626.
But I am sure, that it is not a connection problem.

In my estimation - but I'm a stupid chicken in this field - a solution is only possible with the flash tool.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about it. It is not helpful that there is no support from LeEco. The Internet page from which I received a lot of tips and advice six months ago (leeco.re) is dead. I don't know if the company even exists anymore.
Of course it was wrong and careless to try to boot an MTK device with a Snapdragon TWRP. But I still don't understand what happened, because the fastboot boot command doesn't usually change the internal device programming, or does it?

Although I have little hope that your recommendation will help me, I will try it tonight (after work) and tell you what happens.
Thanks again, anyway.

Further suggestions and ideas are welcome. My girlfriend's birthday is already the middle of next week. I'm running out of time ...

Greetings from Leverkusen/Germany

@TelegramSam :

A fine mess you have made, little girl.
The next time you should be a little more careful   Dodgy

The LeEco universe seems like a hornet's nest.
It is almost impossible to find a scatter file.
It is because all the firmwares shall be installed by fastboot.

However, after extensive research, I have found a scatter file.

STEPS :

1) Download the scatter file at the next link :

3) Download the latest version of SP Flash Tool :

4) Unrar the LeEco_S3_X626_MTK-scatter_file.rar

5) Unzip the firmware Letv3-LeEco-Le-X626-5.8.018S-6.0.1.7z

6) Copy the scatter file inside LeEco_S3_X626_MTK-scatter_file.rar

7) Paste the scatter file onto the folder of Letv3-LeEco-Le-X626-5.8.018S-6.0.1

8) Flash via SP Flash Tool (choose FIRMWARE UPGRADE option)

If everything will works well,
it could be a source of inspiration for a new thread about LeEco S3 X626 MTK

@Cleopatra

Hello Cleopatra (mamma grandiosa  Tongue ),

thank you for your reply.
You're giving me the hope that everything will be all right in the end.
I've had a very hard day today, so I'm just only going to do the downloads now. I'll try to resuscitate it tomorrow. You said yourself that I should be more careful and I don't want to risk an even more worse damage because of my low power level (I mean my personal, not the phone's power level).
I'm just trying to find someone to charge me up ...

I will report the results tomorrow,
thanks again,

Sami

@DirKNirK

Waiting for finishing Cleopatra's downloads I tried your suggestion in several variations (necessary, because I never know, whether the device is turned on or not).
Unfortunately, there has been no progress. Whether or not I press any buttons when connecting to the PC does not change the described behaviour.
Thank you anyway,

hoping on a better day tomorrow,

Samina
Hello Cleopatra,

thank you again for your help.
Now I'm rested, fit and strong enough for the resuscitation attempt.
Unfortunately, things are not yet going as I would like them to.
After starting the SP-Flashtool - using your files - I see the window that is shown in attachment 1.

[attachment=3220]

It is not possible to switch to The Firmware Upgrade option, because I get the error message, that is shown in attachment 2.

[attachment=3221]

When I try to use the Download Only option, I see a red bar at the bottom of the window and then an error message which is shown in attachment 3.

[attachment=3222]

Without waiting for your ok (don't roll your eyes Huh ), I just replaced the two missing partitions (cache and userdata) with the ones from the X620 ROM, which I already had here. Then I can switch to the option Firmware Upgrade, but I still can't get any further because I get the error message from Attachment 4.

[attachment=3223]

Now I don't know what more to do and hope you have another idea.

Best regards
Sami

Flash the next stock firmware via SP Flash Tool :

I am not sure about the language of this stock rom.
Probably it is exclusively in Chinese and English language.
It does not matters the languages.
Now the only thing that matters is to resurrect your phone.
If everything will works well,
we will change the languages at a later stage.

Ciao Cleopatra,

thank you for your help.
The attempt to install the recommended ROM was unfortunately again not successful.
The ROM includes cache and userdata partitions, but I get the error message shown in attachment 4 of my previous posting.

Sorry for making you so much efforts.

We will change strategy.

FIRST STRATEGY :

Try to flash one block at a time.

At first the preloader
Use Download Only option onto SP Flash Tool
Select ONLY the preloader and click Download only

Then, disconnect the USB cable
Then, open once again SP Flash Tool
Then, select boot.img
Then, click Download only
Then, connect the USB cable to start the flash process.

Apply this method to every block onto the stock rom.

Ciao dear Cleopatra,

I'd rather I could tell you something else, but ...

[attachment=3224]

... the same procedure.

If I try one of the other partitions (skipping preloader) I always get the the missing auth-file-error message (see attachment 4 in posting #6).

Sorry!
