Hello

I was looking at buying a dual sim phone. I have zeroed in on the inew v3. I was hoping the users of the V3 can give me some direction as to whether it's a good phone?

How are you liking the phone after using it? Any software / hardware bugs? Is the stock ROM stable to use? What about call quality and reception?

I know it has a relatively small battery - but how much battery life does it give realistically on a normal day?

Can we expect a 4.4 update for this phone?

Thanks
It depends of your standards. This phone has a bug at playing on youtube hd videos but if you use an older version of the youtube app is working ok. Also a third party app can work too if you set it to SW acceleration.
Call quality and reception is above average.
A normal day of use is enough for the battery.

4.4? I don't think so. Only if MTK release drivers, otherwise.....no...
1. I was hoping the users of the V3 can give me some direction as to whether it's a good phone?

I've had the phone for about a month now and I absolutely love it, its always getting compliments. Its a very good phone, probably the best in its price range.

2. How are you liking the phone after using it?

As I said before I love it but the answer to this question will differ between other users due to their expectations. I came to the Inew V3 from a very low end model so this Inew with its quad core processor feels really different and fast however other users may be using high end models all the time thus comparing the Inew V3 to their phones and coming to a negative conclusion. It really depends what you're looking for in a phone, this is not a DSLR camera or a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

3. Any software / hardware bugs? Is the stock ROM stable to use? What about call quality and reception?

I've heard of the date/time crash, random restart after using flip case and a couple more which really scared me at first but after my Inew arrived I realised that it had none of those problems. The only software problem for me is the given value of the percentage of battery, the battery discharges from 100% to 80% in about 10mins and from 80% to 10% it takes a day (for me), many users have said that the battery life is poor but once you start collecting some data on the battery life with apps you realise that in fact the battery is fine and is performing well its just the system showing you the percentage values is not accurate and does not truly represent the amount of battery life. I've had no hardware problems, the air gesture which was advertised with this phone is non existant, didn't really bother me though as I wanted NFC and OTG (which work).
The stock rom is stable but very ugly so I installed a launcher.
Call quality and reception are great, GPS on this phone is excellent.

4. how much battery life does it give realistically on a normal day?

I've sort of answered this above but on average I've been charging it once per day. The battery lasts me approximately 22hours with about 3-4hours screen on time. Gizbeat managed to get 5+hours screen on time and the rom which everyone is eagerly waiting for got 8+hours screen on time (rom is being developed by geekgirl). Some advice: don't look at battery percentage as a guide to the battery life it is very misleading best to download an app like GSAM Battery which shows you a breakdown of the battery usage and time its been used for.

5. Can we expect a 4.4 update for this phone?

I dont think so. There is a developer whose rom is based on the 4.4 kitkat, his name is smartdigi or something like that. Search it on google.
I sold mine, so I don't recomend it because of battery consumption.

You have for the same price the new thl w200s, octacore, gorila glas 3, otg and 32 gb of internal memory, I am waiting to receive mine, I am sure it will be a better option in this price range.
Εxcept the design and the camera that is better than average mtk phones, this phone doesnt worth. It has bad power management and a rom that has sw bugs like the one with videos and sometimes it lags the whole ui.I also dont recomend this phone,i sold mine and i havent regret it

I don;t think the w200 will last so much than iNew. Maybe one and a half hour more! It has 170mAh more, BUT with an octacore CPU??

You should said "it does't worth for me" not "it doesn't worth" because for me it is worthing every single cent I spent.
I do not watching videos on my phone. I am using my computer for this. And its battery is more than enough in my average day usage.
So as I said before it depends of what you are doing with your phone. I want a very nice camera, he has it and its design is beautiful. That's all I want Smiling

I only look for a normal day of use, I am not a heavy user, but v3 did not give me even that

I assume the octacore cpu will not have the problem this soc has regarding battery, actually I guess it will be equal or better than 6589T, specially with HD screen, as it is mainly designed for higher resolutions, just the opposite as 6582, initially designed for lower resolutions
Ok so you dont use a function that phone has --->video play and you are happy of your phone. But this doesnt mean that the phone is perfect. It cant do everything is promises with a good way,so if we see it with objective criteria it has problem.
Yes. The phone is worth it. Does it have it's downsides? Yes, battery life is not great. You'll get 3 hours on screen throughout the day if charged by phone. If using an external charger you'll get 4-5+ on screen. Even charged by phone, it EASILY gets me through the day. I just took a trip to Burma with it charged by phone. Started the trip at 6am. Now 8pm and still 20% left. My use was mostly net over H+. If you're sitting on your phone for more than 3 hours a day, get an extra battery and cheap external charger. Regardless of charging your battery via phone issues, once you start battery swapping you'll never go back to having your phone tied to a charger. At least, I never did.

The MT6582 was designed to work up to 720p, which is what the resolution of the iNew v3 is.

MT6592 is having the same problems with battery life. See H9008 thread.

yes, 15 hours day time use is the most I should expect from a charge, you know from 20% to phone off goes very quick indeed

I have seen the thread you say, but I have read quite another users experience with mtk6592, there are quite a few models around already, from thl, zopo and other brands, and I don't see in their reports the problems experienced with v3 battery at all, more over, the phone you say, and all already in users hands have fullhd screens, thl w200s has an HD screen, that should affect battery use for the better also

so really I don't think that the problems with that particular model should be generalized to the whole soc

if you find an mtk6582 soc phone with hd resolution that behaves good in this matter please share with us, or at least with me, all the readings I have made in the matter with different brands ans models share this particular behaviour you experience with v3, I would be glad to find some evidence on the contrary really

indeed only huawei from the top china brands have made a phone with this specs, the honor 3C, but putting into it a 2300 mah battery ... we'll see if that helps enough
