The external speaker on my G5 doesn't work for notifications and media. Even the touch and lockscreen sounds don't work. But when I'm on my softphone dialling app I have audio through the external speaker. Everything works fine when the headset is connected though. I've rebooted countless times, pulled the battery and even did a factory reset all of which didn't make a difference. I've tried Mobile Uncle but don’t really know how to use all the features properly. I need help desperately because I really like this phone and don't want to go through the pain of returning it under warranty. It seems more of a software than a hardware problem or if it is hardware the only thing I can think is causing it may be a malfunction of the headphone jack (which I've only used twice). PLEASE HELP!
It's a very strange problem.
You did factory reset and it didn't fix the problem. It would seem a big bug with the ROM, or setting, or hardware problem. but the audio sounds normally though your external speaker with softphone dialling app? What about normal dialer with speakerphone on?
Sorry, my mistake. The softphone sound is coming through the earpiece but nothing at all comes through the speaker on any function including the standard dial pad. It's looking like a hardware problem but I still can't rule out software entirely. I really don't know what else to check and I don't know how to flash roms etc etc even though the phone is rooted. I'm a relative novice at these things. I've installed Soundabout Pro and run the touch sounds through the earpiece whilst also disabling the earphone sensor but still have no sound through the speaker. I have DualSim Ringtone installed and first noticed the problem when it updated. So I uninstalled it but no joy there.

Yes. The speaker was bad. I ordered a new one from the reseller for about $12.
