The APCFG files are included as well, but not necessary for NVRAM restore in MTK Droid Tools.

Notes:
  • This is for restoring iNew v3 NVRAM from the backup download below if you've lost/written over/corrupted some crucial part of protected NVRAM. For example the config data for SIM.
  • You should write your own IMEI after doing this restore.
  • These came from 850/2100 iNew v3. Use with 900/2100 or any phone is at your own risk

Do NOT use this with the 900/2100 WCDMA v4.0 phone!
it will most definitely break your phone (no brick, but GPS & 900 Band WCDMA wont work anymore)
I have a MTKDroid backup of my NVRAM on a 900 phone, with FW 1.04 and a good working GPS. With FW 1.08 my GPS doesnt work at all.
If I flash 1.08 and then restore the NVRAM from the 1.04, you think my GPS will work? Is there any relation between the NVRAM and GPS?

It might help, flashing NVRAM after installing rom. I guess NVRAM could interfere with GPS, But I wouldn't think to the point of GPS not working.
we were discussing this point also in the thread regarding unlocking the 3G bands.
it seems that neither the NVRAM nor the ROM alone has much effect regarding to the GPS, but it seems that if either one does not match the other you can also have trouble with your GPS.
how it's connected i do not know - actually as you said it should not be connected at all.
but it's pretty much clear now that the 850/2100 and 900/2100 phone have at minimum different radio hardware.
We were not able to determine how the bands were locked/opened through the firmware (since it would make sense that in theory both are available but can be turned on or off by the manufacturer, because its more expensive for MTK to produce actually different radio hardware) so that suggest that there is a hw difference. that could be connected to the GPS also.
in other threads people had reported that by upgrading the firmware they nuked their NVRAM (lost IMEIs, changing MAC address etc.) and most of them had problems with the GPS afterwards.
better safe than sorry. if you really want to try this out, please make sure to have a working backup of your NVRAM beforehand.

Hm, strange things happening here. I just installed the 1.08GPS fix Rom again, just to test if when I restore a NVRAM from 1.04 with perfect GPS signal, I can get the GPS in 1.08 working.
So I flashed it, and wanted to check the GPS, which I assumed would not work. But.
But it works.....
Fix in less than 5 seconds.
Very strange as I tried everything with the 1.08's and nothing worked.
Ok, now I have 1.08, and a working GPS. Will test later more.
very interesting that. makes me scratch my head how that can be.
i am pretty much afraid to touch my phone since it more or less works without any big problems other than battery charging and home button.
I am not surprised of this.
Once I installed ubuntu on a netbook and I have a couple unsolved driver's problems with wifi video and it couldn't recognize my wireless mouse! (other mouses were ok)
So I give up and installed windows and after a month I re-install the same version ubuntu from the same CD and everything worked perfect!!
So in software world everything is possible!!! Smiling Smiling Smiling
