Hello there.

I am a new V3 owner as of yesterday and so far have been very impressed with the device (Previously had and still have a GS3) Everything appears to work ok with mine, but cant get the GPS to get a fix or see any satellites (OK, maybe one after around 20 mins sitting outside looking at the sky)

Do you guys/girls have a setup routine for the new devie to get the GPS working efficiently. I have downloaded Mobile Uncle, but dont know what to check or do with it, so was looking for some advice or tutorial.

Cant use any GPS apps as its constantly waiting for a signal.

Apart from this, the phone is fantastic, and always draws comments Big Grin

My device:
Model V3 wcdma 850/2100 Andriod GPS/WI-FI
I paid a small fee to ship with root, which it has King user on board as well.

Android 4.2.2, build number cxq_v3_inew_v1.0.8
Kernel 3.4 Mar 19th

A well-known issue for the time being ( as far as stock 1.0.8 is concerned )

You can always try the .
And also disable the fast boot. It causes problems. (one of them is to create problems with GPS fix)

Thanks for that, yes Fastboot was already disabled. I did as instructed in last link, have been able to get more satellites, but still takes around 15-20 mins to find them. Havent used an app on the road yet. Still pretty slow. I also downloaded a 'local" GPS.conf file, installed that, ran the tests again, but no improvement.

I have been reading that this is a known issue with the Mediatek CPU across al brands and has been noted for quite some time. It's a pity they haven't sorted this out fully yet.

I'm not a heavy user so the battery problem isnt an issue with me as mine lasts all day, but then again, im not viewing videos and getting lots of calls all day. It would be a problem with a lot of folks.

2 Issues spoiling what appears to be quite a nice device :-)

Guess i'll just have to be patient, like everyone else.

Thanks for all your help. it is appreciated.

You can try to add this line dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:fast
at your build.prop file. This file is located to the system folder.
You can do it at the phone with a text editor (or you can copy it to your PC) and you must set the permissions back 644.
You need an app like root browser (need it for changing the permissions too) in order to search your system files.
Always keep a back up of this file and then restart.
I have a fix in less than 10 seconds with this!

Also I assume you have data on and all the assistants activated (EPO and A-GPS)
Is there a sim card in the phone? or if not, is the date and date correct for your location? this is crucial.

Hi Nik, yes they are both activated. I have added the line u suggest and its back in the system folder. Its showing permissions of --- rwx r-x Is this correct?

Yes there is a sim card in the phone date and the time set with the network carrier.

Thanks Chris

No, the correct is rw-r--r--

which means Read and Write permissions for the owner, Read for group and Read for others
