So... I bought [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] phone from ibaby888 at DhGate.com .
It turns out there are a few errors in the description, the biggest one is that it's not a FHD screen, it's 'only' a HD screen.

And this is how the discussion with ibaby888 goes...

Goophone N3 firmware is Android 4.2 and using a Mali 450 GPU.
Can you provide me with a firmware that show all REAL stat without faking CPU,GPU and everything, then I take back all my claims and will post a good review.

The phone is still good, but too much faked stuff instead of just showing the real stats.

ibaby888 2014-04-11 12:38
it is Android 4.3

Azza 2014-04-11 12:53
Can you please answer the other questions? What are the real specs and is it a Goophone, Star or what is it?

ibaby888 2014-04-11 13:25
goophone n3

Azza 2014-04-11 15:47
It's really strange because the goophone roms isn't working on the phone..

Azza 2014-04-14 20:12
I got help from someone on a forum and he saw that it's not a Goophone N3 for sure.
Looks more like some kind of copy of N9006, but can't find any info about those for MTK6592, only for older models of the CPU..

Hello,

I know what the spec say, but it's not the true.
Look 7:40 into the video there you see the ram 186,8MB/1936,7MB.
If it would be 2GB, then it would have a lot more free ram.

Here is another video of the exactly same phone.
And that shop clearly say it's 1GB RAM and 720p screen and that's the correct value according to tests.

So either you send me the phone I paid for a MTK6592 16GB with a FHD screen (or better) and I send this one back (when I got the new phone) or I will provide all evidence needed for DHgate that shows that you are lying in the description and post a review that tell everyone the true specs of the phone.

Azza 2014-04-18 14:15
Since I dont hear from you in days about a partily refund for The error in decription I post a review tomorrow so People get informed om what they are ordering

ibaby888 2014-04-18 15:13
it is real FHD

Azza 2014-04-19 01:58
What proof do you have that its FHD?
All apps show 720p, the boot animation is 720x 1280, lock screen wallpaper is 720p, normal wallpaper is 720p and the LCD driver is for a 720p screen.
Also everyone else that sell the same device state that its 720p and 1GB ram.

ibaby888 2014-04-21 16:48
it has 2GB RAM, and FHD, please check it via antutu

Azza 2014-04-22 15:11
ibaby, I have checked in the real Antutu that isn't faking resolution.
I will upload a picture.

Look at that picture, that's the real resolution.
Also if you connect the phone to PC and check in MTK Droid Tools, you see the LCD driver: otm1283a_hd, that's not FHD, that lcd is only HD. So please stop saying anything else.

Also in the picture I sent you check RAM, you see it's only 100MB left?
That's how you easy see that the 2GB is faked, if it would really be 2GB it would be atleast 1 GB free, or the ROM is really bad.

Several sites are selling the SM-N900 now and if you check videos and spec it's exactly the same phone, but they say it's HD and 1GB RAM.

So please, stop trying to play stupid, we both know it's not FHD and 2GB RAM.

use other antutu

Azza 2014-04-22 23:36
Don't insult me with "use other antutu". The real spec is not FHD. Do you plan to refund me or should we wait until DHGate solve we issue and force you to refund me?

ibaby888 2014-04-23 11:58
I promise you the factory tell me it is fhd!!!

Azza 2014-04-23 14:11
I will post my review later today. This discussion isn't going anywhere.

I skipped the first messages, this whole discussion started 31 March and now after 3 weeks he still claims it's FHD and when I even send him a screenshot from Antutu that shows it's HD, he tell me to use the other Antutu with faked results..

So I would suggest people to buy from someone else than ibaby888
Hello AZZA,
I have the same luck with ibaby888/KittyLee... almost two weeks now promising me a new ROM for this phone:
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
and he/she won't send it... He goes to the trouble of being on Skype with me but now doesn't answer any more...
I cannot root this phone... nothing works and I have tried dozens of different root methods and software to try and root phone... NOTHING WORKS... I need the new ROM from the factory or whatever software will work to root... The phone is great but can not root... and I have many paid for apps that require root... WHy is it such a big deal for him to send me ROM or at least a method to ROOT??? WHY is it such a problem... He just has to send it and forget me I won't bother him anymore if he sends it... How do you say POOPY HEAD in Chinese!!!??? LOL
If you have ROM for this phone let me know Please? TIA!!
It's not the responsibility of the seller to help you root your phone, or to provide you new ROMs. They are a middleman between the manufacturer/factory and you. In fact, if you root or modify your phone at all it may void the warranty. That being said, it would be better if they didn't promise something they can't provide.

If all 8 root methods fail that are listed, then just create CWM for your phone. There are several tutorials in the tutorial section on how to do it.

Since you can't obtain root, then look at the Ultimate tutorial that shows how to create CWM from an unrooted phone.

After flashing the CWM, you can then install root from recovery.

Thanks Sniper47... That is kind of my point... they should not promise this if they can't or don't intend to follow through, that being said,
I never said nor do I have any expectations for them to provide me root for my phone, and I really don't care about warranty from a phone I would have to send all the way back to china to get service for, so I'm willing to lose warranty to get root... I started by just sending a message to the seller, telling them I couldn't root the phone and asking them if it was possible and asking if they would advise me... I literally have tried at least 3 dozen ways I have found all over the web, one site had method A thru H, is that what 8 methods you are talking about? Yes I tried all of them and many many more, when I first got this phone I stayed up for almost 48 hrs straight trying to root it... But truth be told I think I saw (browsing) your method (you posted above) but thought for some reason I had to be rooted to do that (must have been at about 36 hours, LOL)... Now reading it more thoroughly I see I was wrong... I will try this now.. and again I thank you

P.S. I have had about 10 android phones over the past years and have rooted them all and pay for apps that require root to have the extra control and also the bragging rights over friends that are too afraid to root their phones. Some have been a little difficult and some have been easy to root but in the end I have rooted them all within minutes or a day or two of receiving them, THIS one has been a monster to do ANYTHING with... For two weeks!!... If I can't get this rooted in the next week I am giving it away and saving up for a different S5 clone!!
The key to the tutorial is reading back the ROM with SP Flash Tools. With that, MTK Droid Tools can creat a CWM from boot.img from the read back.

If you have the correct boot.img from the ROM you have on your phone downloaded already, can use MTK Droid Tools to process the CWM from that as well. Then you don't need the read back.

Remember though a boot.img from one ROM may not be compatible with a different ROM. Even if it's the same phone.

Hope I make sense Hands
