Hi,

I've got a MT6582 Note 3 clone that is slightly larger than a genuine Note 3 - it measures approx 154 X 80 X 9mm. I want to get a new flip case but can't find anywhere to buy one. Can anyone tell me what cases this phone is compatible with or where to buy a new case?

TIA

PB
It's best if you can find out which specific phone you have, rather than looking for a "Note 3 clone" case. There's a possibility that one exists out there.

With my S7589, I considered modifying a generic case by gluing the phone's extra back cover in there. I never followed through -- partially because I'm lazy, partially because I didn't really want the extra bulk of a case, and partially because I knew deep down inside that it was probably a bad idea.

That's the problem - I can't identify the specific manufacturer and model. All I have to go on is the "N3" written on a label inside the phone. All of the usual things, like using a system info tool to find the manufacturer string haven't worked. I know it's not a typical clone (e.g. Star U9000) because it's slightly bigger but that's all. The specs are the same (1Gb RAM, quad core, 5.7" screen, etc.) but it's just those few millimetres bigger. It's really frustrating! Another frustrating thing is that there are lots of similar sized phones available but even when I search for cases that will fit them, nothing turns up.

Like you, I also toyed with the idea of modifying a different case but I'm not very practical and I'm incredibly lazy.
Have you considered something like this?

Yes, I saw this too but I was hoping to get a flip case with a window and a cutout for the camera that will fit properly. The universal case you linked to is probably the best choice if I can't find something closer to the existing case I have. I just find it hard to believe that nobody sells the right case, especially because there are lots of phones appearing that are the same size as mine. Thanks again.

I saw the universal case posted above and almost got it for my FeiTeng H9503. Decided instead to get a nice universal leather belt case from Target for about US$15 (I prefer a belt case over a wallet case for a phone...but I do have a wallet case for my Kindle 3G e-reader).

The Note 3 clone you have is very close to the dimensions of the original phone: 151.2x79.2x8.3. We are talking maybe 3 mm longer, 1 mm wider and less than 1 mm thicker. You could get a an aftermarket case for a Note 3 with a window on it...usually aftermarket cases have a more generous fit. Thinking maybe something like this: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]&var=&hash=item3f3550a4f0 That would give you a small window to the LCD and a rear cutout for the high resolution camera (assuming it's in the identical place as the original).

If it's a little too tight a fit initially, you can gently stretch the case before inserting the phone.

Another thought is visit a cell phone kiosk at a local shopping mall. Hand them your phone and ask what wallet case they have that will fit it. Would likely cost more than ebay...but you could choose the case with the best fit and looks.
