Hi

I am in Australia time zone which is different from most super mods so let me start the ball rolling

Can we stop right there and expand on what you mean please?

leaping ahead it might be help if I give you an answer to your questions (3) and (4)

I am thinking that you are maybe confused over the use of your word recovery?

(3) If you mean recovery then yes there are at least 3 recoveries we discuss at CPA but there is actually a lot more.

In no particular order they are
Normal ClockworkMod = CWM.......a non-touch recovery. Needs you to use the volume up or down rocker button to navigate thru the menu and press the power button to action your selection

Carliv Touch Recovery (CTR) is a touch version of CWM. You get to touch buttons instead of CWM's volume buttons.
----This makes it easier to use......but I add.....you need to be extra careful you don't suffer from "fat fingers"
-----touch the wrong option ......and not pay attention and you can easily wipe stuff you did not mean to.

CTR can use normal CWM backup folder on your SDCard

TeamWinRecoveryProject (TWRP) is a different recovery also touch buttons. It can not use the CWM backup folder and vice versa. You are welcome to make backup for both types and see which you like the most.

Personally I like CWM normal as its more idiot proof.....but that just me talking out loud.

(4) Your question looks like you are thinking a recovery is a full ROM?
AFAIK NFC or OTG are options only available when normal boot occurs.
So a full ROM means your Android when booted up to normal mode, like when you want to make phone calls and such. Recovery mode has very limited options and does not enable your wifi or modem etc.

needrom can offer both full ROMs and recovery images

I noticed you had a previous post where you had a issue or two. Have you now got a working phone?

PS you can flash a different recovery image that is designed specifically for your phone using mobileuncle app.
But it needs a rooted device.

Some full ROMs on needrom are not designed to use CWM/CTR/TWRP but need Flashtools which needs Windows PC and the USB driver.

Normally the needrom maintainer tells you how to install their full ROM or recovery image.

Are you confused on their instructions?

Does that make it clearer?

good luck

thanks alot for this huge answer, it really does explain alot
so yes my phone is working.

so recovrey has nothing to do with phone function's? only for backup/install new roms? do they have diffrent support for exposed manger/init.d scrip (not sure what init.d scrip is but i think it has a connection to xposed and gravity box if im not mistaking.)

what im asking is: does recovrey effect phone in someway exept for the way you install a new rom on it? or is that kernal work?

my phone has root. useing the app from play store i just put the img file and that's it? or do i need to load anything else?

when installing new recovrey do i need to clear catch or data or anything like that? or will evreything stay the same as before?
Just a quick interruption into aus9 excellent explanation.

For flashing with SP Flash tool [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

If youre rooted, you can flash with Mobile Uncle app from play store.

thanks, i guess google play app si much easyer.

so just my 2 last question again

1. does recovrey effect phone in someway exept for the way you install a new rom on it? (i mean if i take 2 phones 1 has regular cwm and one has trap will phone act diffrently in something ? )

2. when installing a new recovrey does anything get delted or is recovrey just replaced?
How to avoid "incorrect scatter file format" message using SP Flash Tool
NexusTrix and others
Please feel free to interrupt me any time soon.

Ok so your post 5 question 1.
A recovery is a mini operating system INDEPENDENT of the boot up normal operating system.

A recovery can have a huge effect on your phone. Do you not understand the risk of doing some things here?
It is really good for preparing for a new full ROM

also from post 3
Quote:when installing new recovrey do i need to clear catch or data or anything like that?

for example, most ROM builders have instructions similar to this
-----wipe data menu option -> wipe user data
------wipe cache menu option -> wipe cache
install zip from SD card

But only if the ROM builder built it for CWM/CTR/TWRP

So if the builder has not built it for a recovery image......they expect you to use a scatter file, Flashtools, Windows PC and an associated USB driver.

There is a simple way of telling.......the ROM maker will tell you at the top of the post at needrom.
If they don't, unpack the zip.

If the zip contains system.img, secro.img etc......it can not be used by CWM/CTR/TWRP

b) Are you a non-English speaker by any chance?
Quote:i mean if i take 2 phones 1 has regular cwm and one has trap will phone act diffrently in something ? )

assuming trap = TWRP then they won't act differently except in recovery mode one is non-touch and one is touch.
Maybe you can watch youtube videos of these recovery images in action.

Your post 5 question 2
Yes its replaced.

I hope you also understand that when you flash a full ROM, it too, replaces the last full ROM

EDIT
I forgot to mention, sorry.....if you decide to flash a full ROM that needs to use Flashtools......there is a possibility it might over write your current recovery image.

Not a problem if you keep your desired recovery image copy on the SD card.

Just so happens I made an update to a tutorial on mobileuncle stating this name of recovery image thingee.....if interested see here
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

Altho the videos are for TWRP and CWM.....CTR will be exactly the same process.

good luck
