aus9, of course not. I may actually be failing liciousx here. I'm getting stumped -- please share any ideas.

Quote:And I dont know how to reach " /sys/power/wake_lock file" because there is no file name sys in my file manager.

liciousx, do you have a terminal installed? you can access the file from there.
type in "cat /sys/power/wake_lock" to see the list
also try "dumpsys power" check if any partial or full wakelocks will show.
The link from aus9 is not working for me. (it opens but never loads, it keeps loading and loading and nothing happens)

I couldnt find dumpsys power on the play store.

And I don't know really know what a terminal is.

Ok, sorry about that. Download android terminal emulator from Play Store.

You mentioned you are rooted, that's good. Once you are at the command line, type in 'su'. The $ at the command line should change to # indicating root access.

Type in 'dumpsys power'
check to see if any wake locks come up.

Also try to type in 'cat /sys/power/wake_lock' see if anything is listed there.

I'm having trouble with the link, too. But I think it points to the GSam and CPU Spy too, and also Better Battery Stats.

You can try BBS if you want. It should be able to give more information than GSam.
Hi guys The link works but in FF you get a popup box saying a (java-type) script is not responding.

I will let the author know.

First he suggest a playstore app= My Battery Drain Analyser

Quote:This is a great little app that shows battery use for every % point your battery loses

Next he suggests playstore app = Battery Spy
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
Quote:I generally use battery spy to see charging rates

Third app= CPU Spy Plus
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]&hl=en

Quote:I particularly use this app for quickly determining length of time the phone has been in deep sleep as opposed to awake, or even more importantly – is the phone deep sleeping at all. If it’s not deep sleeping, this next app can help determine what’s keeping it awake.

Fourth app = BetterBatteryStats

Quote:which is a paid app on Google Play, but free to members of XDA
its aussie $2.74 so I will leave that up to you.

Quote:most importantly, allows you to see what processes were engaging kernel wakelocks. This is very important in troubleshooting what is keeping your phone from deep sleeping.

good luck

Just tested in 2 web browsers on my Linux PC.....one is not so good

but on Android
CM browser is wonderful.....loads first time

And what do I after that? (should I buy the BetterBatteryStats? or will I just spend more money on this phone for nothing?)

From the talk I had with Athos it seems my proc doesnt go into deep sleep.

But it still doesnt solve the charging problem. (it won't charge while it is on)
As aus9 said, it is up to you if you want to buy it. We can't guarantee the app will be able to detect what is causing your wakelock.

Have you tried the dumpsys power? Did you see any wakelocks listed? Or perhaps any sensors registering to be on?

Yes, you are right about that, and it is running at full. It is possible that the phone does not charge while it is on because of that. The battery may be sourcing more current to the phone than it is sinking from the charger. This takes us back to finding what is keeping your phone awake, then finding a way to disable it.

Try plugging in the phone to an AC/DC charger, then run the dumpsys power again.

Under Power Manager State, see if mIsPowered is true, if mPlugType is 1, and if mStayOn is false. (they should have those values)

Under Settings and Configuration, check if mStayOnWhilePluggedInSetting = 0
If not type in 'svc power stayon false'
When I search for dumpsys power on google play i find only BetterBatteryStats.
