Technically its 12:25AM here, so good evening everyone.

My name is Richie, and i ended up with a SM-G900 Samsung Galaxy S5 clone. Its actually a friends phone, I've got a T-Mobile Note 2. She just hates it, and i love phones so i figured she'd let me play with it and see if i can root + custom rom it.

Dont know much about this phone, but im hoping to learn as i read more.

Thanks for reading!
hi

first thing is to find out the true hardware of your device
go to playstore and install CORRECTION cpu-z

A clone is rarely going to have the same CPU chipset as the S5.
You will notice I am anal and resisted saying never

2) You mention T-mobile

I assume you know the difference between root and wireless unlocking?
Good afternoon Richie!

I originally found this forum because I was looking for information on my girl's phone too! I ended up liking her phone so much that I ditched mine, got one like hers, and the rest is history. I think I've been around these forums for just over a year now. I still have a lot to learn. It's by and large a pretty helpful community, though. Good luck in finding info for your phone!
Thank you. I ran spec device.

So heres some of the info i got back:

I believe the phone is unlocked.I only have T-Mobile sim to test, and T-Mobile sim card works, but doesnt get 3G. I was hoping for 4G, but i know thats not possible with the radio. So i think..

I also know what rooting is, I have a T-Mobile SGH-T889 and I ran through XDA's roms on it. Im pretty comfortable when it comes to flashing, BUT i am scared with these. Im not sure what works and what will brick it. As of now the phone is functioning. Minus the home button. Ill show you all the Screen shots i took.

When i Initially held Vol Down + Home + Power (Sorry for the blurriness, I enabled Anti-Shake after this picture):

When i hold Vol Up + Home + Power:

If i go to recovery and hit Vol Down (Note the orientation):
**I Installed CWM via MTK Tools, i believe. I made a backup, then it added CWM for me.
***I also have a backup of the rom in CWM.

Thank you for helping me!
Ok lets start off positive eh?

your CWM is upside down. You have 2 choices
A) get a copy of that CWM onto your PC unpack it, flip it, repack it and test

I can't help you do that unless you convert to Linux as I refuse to use Windows

B) much easier is download this package from forum post by vampirefo

put it at the base of your sdcard.

C) boot into current CWM, choose option install zip......from sdcard
and select cwm_test.zip
which should flip you back to right side up

Now other stuff

1) In first post you said you had a clone.....wrong!
You have a counterfeit or fake.

A clone attempts to match the specs or performance
A fake show the wrong brand. Hint your image shows Samsung

2) Warranty is normally void if you change the firmware but you have a fake
you could consider asking for a refund.....at this stage I lack confidence you will get one.....but it may not hurt to ask

3) image 3 is what we call bootloader menu

4) Chinese factory reset info is here

You have a fake so don't expect great specs.
However, I can confirm that until I inserted my 3G sim, spec device is misleading and only showed 2G=GSM

Can you repeat test with a 4G sim inserted pls

It used to, now it displays android and whatever, ill grab a pic in a little.

I would count that out. This girl at my job purchased what she thought was a real 'off the truck' S5 for $250 from a friend of a friend. Needless to say she isnt getting money back. (Phone is only worth like 115$ max)

4G sim is used for my Note 2, so it is a 4G sim from the get go. Sad
the image of phone with battery out.....
I can see sdcard but I can't spot sim card inserted?

Phone wasn't working properly so in the meantime I put the Sim card back in my note 2
First, Bravo! You've already run it through a slew of tests and done so very competently at that. Way to go, man!

Unfortunately, the stats show the phone pretty much looks like an S5 on the outside and that's where the similarities end. Being that it's a dual core phone with an apparent 512MB of RAM, I wouldn't get my hopes up for much. The hardware limitations look pretty sad. I'd be surprised if it were capable of 4G at all anywhere, let alone in the USA. Where did your friend get this phone?

For better clarification, on most China phones, you're going to be limited to 2G on T-Mobile USA. It's starting to pick up as a new trend to be able to get HSPA+ on *SOME* newer phones, since some now include the 3G WCDMA 1900 MHz band and T-Mobile has been reframing that particular frequency over the past year or two.

Unfortunately, this looks like a pretty cruddy phone. On one hand, it's claiming a yearish old MTK6582 in there somewhere, which is a quad core processor. However, I suspect it's actually the MTK6572, since it's being reported as dual core. I'm even doubting that the OS is being reported honestly. Can you tell for sure whether it's JB or KK? Any chance you've run Antutu on it to see what level of performance we're looking at?

All in all, I unfortunately think your friend got duped with a 65ish dollar phone for the money she paid. Huge bummer.

OP------It used to, now it displays android and whatever, ill grab a pic in a little.

according to your own image of front of phone it says Samsung and the same photo altho fainter says the same on the removable battery cover.

A fake is a fake......it may not be a laughing matter but I hope you spot the forest in future and not just the trees.
