I am new to this forum!
I just got a Coolpad 9976T (very cool!) from Hongkong and it has several apps in there were useless (Maps, Navigation, Amazon...) I have tried to download Google Play in there but it did not work! I am thinking of install a fresh verson of 4.3 or 4.4 Android into it (right now it has 4.2.2) and have read few websites which made me confused! Can someone helps me step by step to do this ?

Thanks in advance?

Hi, texans-bee. Welcome to the forum!

Before you update your firmware, please make a backup of your current one.

The methods for making backups will require your phone to be rooted. See the Rooting Tools forum for various options of root tools.

For making backups:
A. Follow this tutorial: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
If you find you have problems with the drivers, you can download these: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
B. Furthermore, backup your NVRAM: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
This one is an important one. Many users find problems with radio/baseband after flashing a new ROM, and some do not have a copy of their NVRAM to restore. Better to have one.

For creating CWM, see the tutorials section. You will find multiple methods there. If you are able to root your phone immediately, check the Yulipis and Ranpha methods for creating CWM.
Once you have that, make another backup but this time with your new custom recovery.

For flashing your new ROM, see this: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

good luck!
Thanks for replying!
What about another version of Android to install after creating CWM or this is it!?

Hi, you'll have to look for an appropriate ROM to flash. The CWM is a custom recovery. Its not a ROM.
Each time I get a new android device, I do 3 things (as every hacker does, I guess)
. Root the device
. Install a Custom recovery TWRP or CWM
. Do a nandroid backup

If you have trouble to be rooted or with your Custom Recovery, I proceeded like this :

1 - Get root privilege with the Odd Rabbit tool :
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

If you have problems with Odd Rabbit you can use RootGenius.
The device reboot itself in root mode.
Do not reboot manually because then you will loose root privilege. This is why I prefer Odd Rabbit

Note: people owning a 9976A use successfully the last version of VROOT utility.
I personally tried the previous version but was not good.

2 - Create recovery.img and flash it with EasyMagicTWRP.
If the new Recovery is correctly flashed then you are lucky and you can skip steps 3 and 4
If this tool stay stucked a long time (1/2 hour) then you must abort the process.
This tool was not able to download the created recovery.img to the device, but recovery.img is really created and this is what we want.

3 - Copy the created recovery.img to your device.

3 - Flash recovery.img with mobileuncle.

4 - Reboot in recovery mode and DO A BACKUP. And you may breath

5 - You may want to flash another ROM, for example Canardo-CP9976T-JB01.002

This ROM:
. Is based on Coolpad official stock ROM - 4.2.036.P0.140724.9976T (Jelly Bean 4.2)
. Is flashable with custom Recovery TWRP or CWM
. Is rooted
. Has Google Play inside
. Does not contain Chinese applications
. Is bilingual Chinese/English (you can set another language with Switch Local APP or MoreLocale 2)
This ROM can be found at one of the following address :
