Hi

I need some help, I was in China last month and bought a lenovo a828t, on returning to South Africa, i can us the phone as normal, but it won`t access the data network for some reason. Can anyone give me some advice how I can enable data access to this phone on our networks.

The phone can use data on these bands
Band : 2G:GSM900/1800/1900MHz
3G:TD-SCDMA 1900/2100MHz

The local networks support these bands.
I have tried to find a custom rom for this phone but as far as I can see there is currently none as I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the rom that is loaded that it is blocked in some way.

Is there anyone who can help me with this?

Thanks
TD-SCDMA is only in China, and your carrier may only support 800/850 2G.
can you name your radio carrier company?

according to a web site for ZAF it shows

Quote:2G ....GSM 900, GSM 1800
which appears to be phone capable

+1 to NexusTrix for the china band for 3G
HI guys

Here is the info I gathered about the networks in South Africa.

South Africa GSM: 900 1800

3G 2100 Cell C;
3G 900/2100 MTN-SA;
3G 2100 Telkom; 3G 2100 VodaCom;

4G LTE VodaCom 1800Mhz;
4G LTE MTN-SA 1800Mhz;
4G LTE Neotel 1800Mhz;
4G LTE Telkom-8ta 2300Mhz;

Thanks for all the info and help.
lets try again

it is useless you posting 3g info as you have a Chinese baseband so it won't work in SA.

call your support and ask them what frequencies they use for 2G.
If you travel to different locations check they are the same.

2) on the off chance you make simple mistakes try this
system settings
sim management
is data connection on or off?
--if off turn it on

note that you don't need data if you just want to text or sms

good luck
I got it working.

It needed the access point settings.

Thank you all for your help. I appreciate it.
do you mean you wanted to relay your wireless data to say a PC/laptop?
In which case do you mean you went into
"more" below data usage and set Tethering and portable hotspot?

2) or because you have a Windows PC chose usb internet?

If not please explain where you went to set access point.
