I found two problems with my Hero H7500+ and need suggestion if there is a patch module or custom firmware to fix it.

1. 3G connection is dropped when switching from H+ (HSPA+) to H (HSDPA) and takes several seconds to recover back. This happens with normal browsing and speed test.

2. Wifi mac address keep changing every time I switch wifi off and on. This causes a problem when access free wifi service of my phone provider as my phone has to be recognized with only one registered mac address.

My device is installed with factory firmware, details below.

Android version
4.1.2

Baseband version
MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V2.P1 2013/02/02 23.29

Kernel version
3.4.5

Thanks in advance Smiling

If the change doesn't remain permanent, try running the script each time before you connect. Not the best solution, but might work out until you find something permanent.
Hi Gizbeat,

Thanks so much for your reply, really appreciate.

1) The problem of connection drop when switching from H+ to H happens to both providers of my 2 sims (but never happened before with my previous Android phone). However, the drop only randomly occurs, not every time. I have searched the web and also found a thread on XDA developer discussing the same problem on Samsung and suggested to disable H+ to prevent the switching error, but this means you will lose the benefit of H+ speed.

So I am trying to find a better solution that can correct the problem in the proper way Smiling

2) I believe the change of Mac address is to spoof the device when connecting to public network. I will try your suggestion, or will try some app that can temporarily change Mac to the value we need and I will report the result. Anyway, changing the Mac should require root access so I have to consider rooting my device first ^_^

Thanks again \(^_^)/
1) Yes, as I said I didn't notice an issue, but perhaps it was happening and I just didn't notice the drop. Sorry I can't help more, if it's an issue with the phone or the ROM, likely it will have to be fixed by a programmer. Keep in mind this is the first version of the ROM and being that it's a Zopo OEM, we should see some updates and fixes come along. Also you can try the MX56 stock ROM. I flashed it and experienced no issues at all, but can't promise it'll fix your problem. Also you can try the Zopo zp800h Android 4.1.1 ROM. I know I made a post recommending not using it, but I think I jumped the gun on that and it was due to my poor interpretation of the Chinese forum.

2) Yes, you will have to root to achieve this. Likely you will have to run the script each time you connect. There are permanent ways to write MAC as well, but some ways may not apply to MTK and other ways require a custom kernel that has it written into the code.

Thanks for posting here and report back with your results. Big Grin
What is your device info with MX56 stock rom (android version, baseband and build number)? I understand that 4.1.2 for H7500+ is just released so I should try to see if MX56 is more stable. Can I use CWM to flash the rom directly or I have to use the flash tool to flash by USB?
I actually just soft-bricked my phone trying to apply the MX56 auto-brightness fix to the stock 7500+ ROM. So that gave me a great opportunity to try out the 4.2.1 Beta.

Camera is working, but the ROM is still using the 4.1 camera... That could be by design though, just upgrading to the kernel to 4.2, but not the gapps.

Miracast option is there, but no wireless display to test it with.

Wi-fi working, but the MAC address changes still happening.

I don't know the info on the 4.1.2 MX56, but this one is

Baseband: MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V2.P1, same as yours but from feb. 27

Kernel: 3.4.5

Build: MX56 20130320
I saw this thread on XDA forum for ZP810 said that there is a patch to improve 3G network.

Anyway, I am trying to find the way to update parameter by Maui META but still stuck with "CDC Serial" driver not recognized. Do you happen to have a good advice with Maui META?
Yes, I saw this 3G fix. It's out in the China forums as well.

Just a note to those who aren't having an issue with their 3G - don't apply it unless there's a problem.

The 4Shared file sharing is a huge scam to get you to install their crapware. If you get the proper files downloaded and the patch works out, can you put the file on a real file sharer such as ge.tt?

Also, did you get my PM from yesterday? There is a fix for the MAC address issue too. Let me know if you can get it to work out. It looks simple, but I can't seem to find the proper directory.
Just read your PM, thanks a million. I will try and let you know.
This is to report that I have already tried the 3G signal solution. The result is quite satisfied eventhough I still see some hiccups when switching from H+ drop to H, but the occurence is less and the re-negotiation recovers much faster than before.

I found the original thread of this solution at zopomobileshop.com with a link that includes all necessary files (yes with CDC serials driver for Maui META)

Anyway, I have not tried the Mac address fix yet. Will come back again. ^_^
